GADOLINIUM
Gadolinium is a rare, silvery-white metal that is both ductile and malleable. When included in alloys, less then one percent Gadolinium content can reduce high temperature oxidation of the alloy. It has no large scale applications, but is used in some highly specialized processes. The metal is highly absorbent of neutrons, making it an effective shield in nuclear reactions. It's compounds are also used extensively in bio-medicine, and incorporated into Nanotubes for various purposes.
