- Welcome to the Soltau, good sir. You're among one of the most battle-hardened crews in Rheinland, you are. This ship fought in wars against Rheinland and Kusari. It's still going strong, to the point that I'm safer on it than one of the newer vessels.
- We have to hold on here for now. The system looks safe, but only if you stick to the lanes. Stray a bit off, and you're risking your life. We will drive the pirates out eventually, don't you fret.
- The Hudson system is a flank for both us and Liberty. If we can secure it we can always have the flexibility of mounting an offensive on Texas. You can never trust Libertonians.
- There's Unioners and Hessians on the outskirts of this system. Don't stray too far from the lanes, otherwise they'll likely get you. The Unioners in particular are merciless.
- I took out two Hessian fighters on my last patrol. Two of my wingmates weren't so lucky, they got hit hard. I'm not sure if they were able to eject or not, things were so hectic. I don't hold much hope for them.
- These Unioners fight differently from the Kusari we've faced before. Unioners often relied on smaller ambush tactics, using their small destroyers and agile fighters to ambush our troops. That worked quite well for them, I must admit. Kusari tried to use superior numbers to overwhelm us. Ironic, but we've resorted to the same tactics Kusari used against us.
- I could have sworn that there was a Unioner fighter among the Bundschuh in my last engagement. Usually they kill each other, but I guess their hatred towards the government unites them against us.
- This is home ground for us. We've been fighting here so long we know every quirk of this system, and we use them to our advantage. Whatever the pirates throw at us, we'll fend them off with ease.
- Aye, some might say I've got it good being here, on this ship, tending drinks and chatting with the lads. But don't underestimate the importance of it. Morale is an important aspect of warfare. Giving the lads a chance to brag, unwind, and occasionally, brawl helps keep their spirits up.

| Solarius Station

- The Red Hessians are practically crawling all over this system, figures after being unopposed for so long. With how often our mining expeditions were being attacked when we got back here, we had little choice but to bring the station back online.
- You know, Ageira Technologies does some pretty amazing stuff, but when they mess up, they mess up big. The people at the top are pretty upset that we pulled out of this system on the recommendation of Ageira only to find out later that nothing was wrong. So many years of profit lost, it's a depressing thought really.
- You didn't hear this from me but a buddy of mine is convinced that the Red Hessians have a base in the Jeschke Fragment field just to the west of here. I mean they seem to have a pretty big presence there but a base? I doubt the Hessians have that big a presence here. Maybe one of their jump holes instead?
- Occasionally we see the odd Corsair near the station, seemingly lost. I guess we shouldn't be too surprised though, the Corsairs have a reputation of hunting down the Red Hessians wherever they can, us being in the crossfire is just a bonus to them. Fortunately, it's a pretty rare occurrence.

| Oder Shipyard

- Our shipyard is actually just part of the Ring. We like to consider it as a separate entity, however. We do not approve of Daumann's methods, and would like to cultivate a different culture that is more respectful of the rank-and-file worker.
- We know Kusari has been trying to decipher the alien technology that Liberty has so jealously guarded for many centuries. Our government has a similar research plan, but no money to spend on it. We did send several expeditions into the Edge Worlds in search of Alien Artifacts -- with mixed results.
- Rheinland must find a way to manufacture the Superconductors that are produced exclusively by Liberty. It seems wasteful to ship our cheap raw materials halfway across Sirius to Ageira's plant in Pueblo. Our new ship design is far more advanced than the Westfalen, and will require development of new propulsion and shielding technologies.
- Our newest battleship, the Bremen, has not even passed the design stage. No money, they say. Rheinland has only one operational capitol ship, the Westfalen. It is serving as a large police post to patrol northern Hamburg.
- Daumann has been our partner for as long as anyone can remember. There are murmurings from the High Command that we should investigate ALG. They are developing superior materials at lower cost than Daumann. And their workers seem more motivated and productive.
- We were once a proud force, serving all of Rheinland. But we now limp toward oblivion. The ships are old, there are many accidents, and nobody is paid for months at a time. All the government's money goes to repay the Liberty debts that Rheinland incurred more than a century ago.
- The Oder Shipyard built all the ships of the great Imperial Fleet --now just shattered hulks and wreckage drifting through the clouds of Sigma-13. My great-grandfather was serving on a cruiser that was lost with all hands during the Battle of the Yanangi Cloud.
- Because we have no money or ships, we cannot patrol the Trade Lanes in Omega-7 or protect the Daumann operations in Dresden and Omega-4. The police must make do as well as they can, but that's not always sufficient when Red Hessians are involved.
- The Rheinland Military was once the envy of all the Houses. Now we are the topic of jokes even in Bretonia bars. Rheinland has many resources, it just lacks a coherent government policy and strategy to guide us into the future.

- This might be a battleship, but that doesn't dissuade the local criminal organizations from trying to attack us. Bundschuh, Hessians, the occasional Corsair, we usually run them off after a few minutes. I guess they don't have any other exposed military targets left in Rheinland. Have to have an enemy to keep the cause going.
- Ever since we lost the war, Rheinland just hasn't been the same; the entire colony feels beaten and bereft of vigor. Look around, there is no one smiling or enjoying themselves. What will it take for my House to heal?
- The Rheinland people don't respect the military anymore. We lost the Eighty-Years War to a ragtag bunch of gas miners as far as they're concerned. If it wasn't for the victory against Kusari a few years ago we might never have recovered our public image. Of course, the civil war that followed didn't exactly help.
- Many of the young officers are leaving the Rheinland Military, tired of the poor conditions and low pay. Most of them end up flying commercial transports for Republican or Synth Foods. The rest end up with the Bounty Hunters Guild.
- Daumann is the real culprit in the Eighty-Years War. The Imperial Navy Command had grave doubts about the wisdom of fighting a guerrilla-style war in the Crow Nebula against an enemy that was so well-supplied by Kusari. But Daumann saw the huge profits to be made in lucrative shipbuilding contracts, and bribed hundreds of key government officials. The rest is history.
- The Rheinland Military is normally tasked with patrolling the northern areas of Hamburg and the adjacent Independent Worlds of Bering and Hudson. But ever since the discovery of Cologne we have to cover that area as well. We were spread thin enough before but now? I'm not sure how the Military will handle it.
- This ship is a deathtrap. They had an explosion last week in Fusion Reactor 6. Had to seal off the entire A Deck. They're not even going to fix it. That's a sorry state of affairs.
- Thanks to Cologne, Rheinland is in a bit of a unique position. Several systems, like Cologne and Frankfurt, have Trade Lane technology from both Ageira and EFL. I doubt any of the other houses have something like that, well unless you count Bretonia. I hear Gallia replaced Bretonian infrastructure every time they conquered a system during the war.
- There are rumors circulating that ALG is planning on building a new shipyard in Dortmund to build the Bremen and her sister ships. They're willing to build them at cost in order to gain entry into this new market. That's an attractive proposition for Berlin at this point and time.

- I'm a captain in the navy, but here I am a tourist like any other. No matter how powerful you are, you still need to relax here and there. Of course, my ship could destroy all the people on this planet from orbit, but that means nothing when I am plopped in a mud bath.
- I love this wonderful resort. My favorite area is the western mud baths. I can just imagine the purple muds squishing between my toes. Amazing how the Water and the earth mix at just the right temperature for total relaxation.
- If Orbital didn't give us discounts, they would find themselves fighting off a lot more pirates than they do now. Hey, it's not my problem a few tourists get blown up here and there. There is a lot of space to keep safe.
