Launched in early 814 AS, the Schwerin is one of the newer battleships in the Rheinland Fleet. It has seen action in the nearby Omegas, where it was initially deployed, ending its tour there in Omega-7 helping to secure Rheinland interests in the region and curb the increasing number of Corsair and Hessian raids against the mining operations at Briesen and Elbich.
The discovery of the Omicron Xi Jump Hole in Munich required the redeployment of the battleship where it was stationed in order to prevent hostile entities entering Rheinland. In 824 AS the Schwerin led an incursion into Omicron Xi, breaking through the Corsair defenders and securing a foothold within the West Aegean nebula.
However, with the increasing pressure applied to Rheinland, with the new conflict with the Gas Miners Guild, the Battleship Bayern getting assaulted by the Kusari Naval Forces in Sigma-21, as well as the Munich catastophe adding further complicating supply lines, the Schwerin ultimately was not able to keep up the pressure necessary to fight the Corsairs in Omicron Xi and was forced to retreat there. Despite this, the brass of the Rheinland Military is confident that the presence of the Schwerin in Omicron Xi has caused enough damage to the Corsairs that they would not be an issue in the foreseeable future. With this assumption in mind, the Schwerin now oversees the evacuation of Planet Nuremberg as well as the dismantling of Ingolstadt Station.
