Battleship Westphalia, along with a large escort fleet, was stationed in the Bremen system to safeguard the Munster Research Station - a classified research base under Rheinland Military control. In late 818 A.S., Liberty attacked the facility, heavily damaging the main structure and stealing a large section of the base. Westphalia and her fleet were immediately ordered to retrieve the stolen component intact.

After having mopped up the fleet that was still attacking the facility, Westphalia pursued her enemies into the New Hampshire system. Cloaked Bombers took out the tug vessels which were hauling the station component back towards Liberty, after which the Westphalia fleet assaulted the enemy headon, using the massive Rheinland ships to overpower the enemy and push them back.

The attack was only a partial success. Liberty sent in reinforcements, and the attack stalled out. Unable to gain a decisive advantage, Westphalia fell back while the remainder of her fleet, now reinforced with additional ships from New Berlin and Bremen, continued to engage the enemy. The two nations still war over the unknown prize - unable to board and unwilling to destroy it.
