Desmond Industries Inc. (Desmond Industries) was formed by several young Freelancers in the independent systems roughly around 817-819 A.S. all though nobody can seem to verify. The company aimed to become an alternative for those who flock to the Indy systems looking to be hired by the IMG, BMM, Kruger or Daumann. Desmond succeeded in obtaining contracts with the Zoners and Liberty, which secured several trading routes that helped to build a strong foundation for the company. Word spread and more contracts were added to the growing company and so did the need for staff and a base of operations. Thus a massive contract with Daumann Heavy Construction was organized in which Desmond would receive use of the station until the Omega 11 system was fully developed.
Rumors have surfaced in the past that Desmond Industries appears to have unexpected inside sources of information within groups that don't usually affiliate themselves with any corporations. For example, Desmond struck a massive contractual contract with the pirate group the Red Hessians, details were iffy but it was noted that for the a few `trade runs` for cargo unknown the Red Hessians would provide security for all Desmond transports, freighters and small craft traveling through their space in defense of Corsair attacks. In less than 6 months, the contract with the Red Hessians proved to be very beneficial for both sides. With the Red Hessians as Allies Desmond Industries was able to ascertain more profitable contracts with other groups.
While Desmond Industries has largely chosen not to attempt to compete directly with Daumann and other Transport companies, it has developed several highly lucrative product lines in advanced technology fields, catering to both popular consumer tastes as well as industrial applications. Ageira and Daumann are Desmond`s largest customers for several important products. This expertise enabled Desmond to obtain an exclusive license from Ageira to secure permanent transport of Jump Gate and Trade Lane components in Liberty and Rhineland. Since most of Sirius`s jump gates and trade lanes are completed baring a few trade lanes needing completion, new components are only needed for maintenance purposes, as well as preparing stockpiles for a small number of future construction projects. Nevertheless, gate and lane component manufacturing is a highly profitable and reliable source of revenue.
Desmond Industries has developed its own cargo fleet that allows it to supply its transportation needs without being forced to rely solely on contracts.
