Synopsis
The FTC is not a Faction, it is a group composed of traders and its own escort wing.
The Free Trade Confederacy (FTC) is a group of various Interspace & Corporation Traders who leave aside their differences & The House wars, To promote Wealth & Well being of the Resource rich systems in Sirius, with their own Escort Wings, The FTC Trade freely & peacefully between systems, eliminating any pirates they find in their path. Often traveling in a Convoy, the fleet mostly operates in the inner core systems, but also establishes medium mining operations in the Outer Tau's, and Omega Systems. The FTC is still a relatively young Faction still pulling itself together and establishing contracts with other Corporations and Groups.
Rumors state that the FTC is secretly establishing a Private Army for Reasons that many do not know. Transmissions intercepted by a lone Buro der Marineintelligenz (BDM) inside the Walker Nebula cloud in Omega-7 intercepted the blue-prints for a peculiar looking Space Shipyard, apparently coming from an unknown FTC tagged ship deep within the cloud, all attempts at the time to triangulate the position of the ship had failed, the BDM still remain skeptical of FTC tagged ships, but no-one knows if it really came from the ship, or if it was a simple Neural Net Comm Glitch.
Summary:

The Rumored Starbrite class Station
The name of the Rumored battle station, Blue-Prints 'Apparently' intercepted by a lone Buro der Marineintelligenz agent, while operating near the Omega-7 Walker Nebula Cloud. The Communication package is said to have been intercepted and traced back to a source ship with the Tag of an FTC ship. The Rheinland Military still remain skeptical of the strange transmission apparently seen to have come from the FTC vessel, in a desperate attempt the Agent called in more backup units, the Fighters then attempted to Triangulate the ships location using Long Range Scanners, however, All attempts to try and recover the ship resulted in failure, one of the Rheinland Military Pilots lost his life, as he attempted to get further into the Corsair occupied space of the Omega-7 Walker Nebula Cloud.
The high activity of Free Trade Confederacy vessels in the area is attributed to the fact that the Walker Nebula Cloud in the Omega 7 sector, contains high amounts of Niobium, Niobium has a number of unique properties. Relatively light and extremely heat resistant, Niobium-derived alloys have been used in the construction of spacecraft and nuclear reactors for centuries.
After the incident, the Rheinland Intelligence agency kept a watch on the FTC Communications. However, the FTC shortly after switched to a Highly Encrypted Private Channel, established from an Unknown source. The Rheinland Military still continue to stop and search Free Trade Confederacy Trade Ships, but have failed to produce even a shred of evidence to support the claims of the Intelligence Agency.
Although skeptics will get the better of the RM, and others. Many feel that it's impossible for such a small and fairly new faction to acquire the funds to construct a large shipbuilding and long distance life supporting colony mother ship.
Origin
Although conceived in Liberty, The FTC are a diverse group of various Independent and Corporation employed Traders, From all parts of Sirius. Usually from the major Sirius houses, Rheinland, Kusari, Liberty, and Bretonia. These Traders then go on to join the Free Trade Confederacy as a source of better income, and for the "better cause."
The Traders Originating from Rheinland, may pass through Rheinland, However they must conceal their Identity as an FTC member, the standing of the Free Trade Confederacy and Strict laws in place in Rheinland, make it hard for an FTC operative to operate in the Rheinland Military Zone of Influence. Free Trade Confederacy pilots do not venture to Rheinland, as many operatives operate with an Interspace Commerce ID, which is not permitted in Rheinland due to political standing with Liberty. Due to the Free Trade Confederacy's ties to the IC, contact with Rheinland is avoided.
The FTC does not boast any members that are from Unlawful Military's, and/or Unlawful Organizations. Such as the Corsairs, Gaians, Xenos, Outcasts, Red Hessians, SCRA, & Liberty Rogues, to name just a few.
Contact with the aforementioned is limited, and is strongly discouraged by the FTC.

Rank System
Although being a Non-Military Confederacy, the Free Trade Confederacy's Employed Freelancers work According to a Military-like ranking system.
New Members will be given funds to acquire an Eagle VHF.
Ranks work in the following order (From Lowest to Highest):*
- Recruit - Rec. - (Not Yet Completely Employed by FTC, will be promoted after 1 Escort run)
- Private - Pvt. - (Officially employed by FTC - May Obtain a Codename Loadout from the Armory)
- Sergeant - Sgt. - (Qualify to Fly the Ravens Talon VHF and Roc Bomber)
- Captain - Cpt. - (Qualify to Fly Gunboat class ship)
- Lieutenant - Lt. - (May pass commands to the Lower ranks)
- Commander - Com. - (The Boss.)
Players may be promoted at any time by the Commander. The Commander overseas all. Players may request a ship to fly from the Commander, and likewise the Commander may request players to fly a specific craft.

The FTC's Weapons and Equipment are supplied by the Akadis Deep Space Research Team (which is not affiliated to FTC in any way), and funded primarily by the Commander.
Escort Fleet
Fighter Wing:
The Freelance Wing of Fighter Escort Craft, Responsible for the Protection of the Train Transport ships, and defending them at all costs. The Escort Wing is comprised mostly of The CTE-6000 Civilian Very Heavy Fighter & The Raven's Talon VHF.
These ships are generally equipped with 2 CP-l "Debilitator" Civilian Improved Mk II Pulse Cannon's and 4 Hull busting Class 9 or 10 Weapons of choice. Generally CODENAME weapons supplied by the Akadis Research Team (Not Affiliated with FTC).
Bomber Wing:
The CTE-19000 Civilian Bomber, also known as the Roc Civilian bomber, is the main Bomber vessel used by the FTC Bomber Escort Wing, chosen for its availability, reliability, and flexibility. Ease of repair makes this ship a must have, as the parts can be easily changed and replaced with parts from the already in use Eagle Very Heavy Fighters.
The main Anti-Gunboat & Defense ships of the FTC, the FTC Roc Bombers are standard equipped with 5 Bomber Energy Cannon Mounts, 1 Supernova Antimatter Cannon, and Train Cruise Disruptor. The Roc Bomber is usually restricted to the Higher Ranking FTC Escort Pilots.
Gunboat Wing:
The Ahoudori - T-833-GB Kusari Explorer, One of the strongest Gunboats available, and available to all Freelancers. With a Great Power core, and strong armor. This ship perfectly matches the needs of the TFC, and so, it is the primary Gunboat of choice for the Free Trade Confederacy Gunboat Escort Wing (Until a later long term contract is established), with 7 Gunboat Turrets and one of the best power cores available on Gunboats in Sirius.
Being one of the most powerful ships at the disposal of the FTC, this class of vessel is allowed only, to Higher Ranking Members in the FTC.
The Zoner Gunboat is restricted to only pilots with permission from the Zoner Alliance, These gunboats may only engage when the Transports are in direct danger.
Transport Fleet
Train Transport Wing:
The Main Trader Wing. The most important vessels in the fleet. The Transport Fleet mainly consists of armored CT-73 Civilian Advanced Train Advanced Trains. These are always assisted by Escorts for safety. The Transports are top priority in the Fleet, and must be kept safe at all times.
Pushing the upper envelopes of contemporary engineering, the grandest configuration of the vulnerable "Train" class vessel plays deft host to a chain of incredible mass, threading the fortunes of companies between asteroids and firefights alike with a finesse not easily believed until seen. While weight must be spread somewhat uneconomically to maintain structural integrity, hence the question additional pods, the relative compact nature of the ship belies the sheer tonnage she hauls. As such the vessel is a common sight across the houses, used by all.
Non-Corporate Transport Wing:
These individuals operate under the Independent Trader ID and ID's that restrict cargo capacity. They fly primarily the Border Worlds Transport, but may have otherwise.
The Border Worlds Transport is chosen for its wealthy cargo hold, large availability, handling, neutrality, and ease of repair.
It's speed, Sleekness, and maneuverability Make it a Must have for the small time traders among the FTC.
At a mere price of $41,000,000 Sirian credits, the ship is cheap, and available to all ranks of the FTC.
