The Jeju Mining Facility was constructed by the IMG in 827 AS, following a period of turbulance with their other operations as a result of the Gallic War and the Aland Crisis. It was feared that tensions with the Crayter Republic and continued hostility with Bretonia would reduce the mining corporation in size drastically, with many of their existing bases vulnerable. While relations with both these entities have calmed, the potential benefits of Jeju meant the project would be completed. The base currently serves as a staging point and refinery for operations in nearby Tau-53, as well as local mining operations. The base is currently running at low capacity due as vital components of the station are still being finalized and the supply of mined ore to the base is limited.
It is rumored that the base is frequented by unlawful elements looking to pick up supplies and trade. These rumors are based on the reputation of the Guild in Bretonia and Rheinland for off the record support of elements that can harm their competition, with Samura and GMS being their main competitors in Nagano and Tau-53.The undeveloped nature of Nagano allowed the IMG to stake their claim to mining operations locally, however the Kusari governments recent attempts to develop the system by connecting to Tottori and ultimately Kyushu are a business risk, and efforts to slow the progress of this development indirectly benefit the Guild. Another threat to IMG operations in Nagano is the presence of Farmers Alliance, who are notoriously hostile towards non-Kusari corporate interests, and ruthlessly attack Guild mining operations and trade convoys.
