During the Civil War in Rheinland, the former Commander of the „Tannenberg“ left the BDM and joined the Kaiserliche Polizei, he handed the Command to Kommissaroberrat (a.D.) Horst Stieglitz. He commanded the ship under the flag of the Buro, until he realized the intentions of the former Direktor to turn against the Military and go rogue on the newly formed Rheinland Government.
