− | : Marne is a densely populated industrial world that holds more than three quarters of all Gallic Border Worlds population. Discovered in 506 A.S. by a Gallic expedition sent from Burgundy, this planet has immediately attracted attention of authorities and corporations. Atmosphere was suitable for colonization, and planet's crust appeared to be rich in oil and metal ores. ELF Oil & Machinery, Gallic Metal Service, and a number of other companies from the Core Systems have all participated in building up the industrial infrastructure. But when millions of workers were transported to Marne in 615-650 A.S., they didn't find the perfect living conditions and beautiful cities that they were promised. Instead, vast cities consisted of similar blocks of flats and were located right next to plants and factories: there were few policemen to stop the crime, almost no social services, and even no fresh air because of massive and uncontrolled pollution. On some distance from the cities, small towns were built to house higher-class settlers. Those towns were heavily guarded by Police and private security guard against the crime that was increasing steadily since the colonization had started.

− | : Throughout the last two hundred years, the workers of Marne had to repeat the history of struggle for their rights that took place on Earth in the XIX century. Most of them supported the Gallic Liberation Movement, while some followed more radical path and to become revolutionary socialists. Only a few of the planet's populace supported the royalist Conservative Party and various nationalistic movements. After the Liberation Movement was disbanded and banned in 720 A.S., the officials on Marne became more and more reluctant to uphold the previosly secured workers' rights. Lacking peaceful ways to express their protests, the workers started to realize that period of bloodless struggle has come to an end. Many joined a group named the Council that followed Liberalist political ideas. Many even joined the Maquis, a terrorist organization formed within the Council structure. Over the years, Marne has become an ill-famed place for corporate officials. Streakbreakers, corrupt policemen, and even random rich sitizens were regularly found dead, gunned down by long-range sniper rifles or simply stabbed to death in the streets. Security was tightened, but it was too late. When the government has initiated a tactic of revenge, arresting random Council activists not in any way privy to the cause in response to each crime committed against higher-class Marne colonists, a massive rebellion had become inevitable.

− | : The rebellion that started in 794 A.S. is universally considered the beginning of the Second Gallic War. After two years of fighting, the Gallic Army has gained the upper hand due to advanced warfare technologies and tight control of the space around the planet. However, the government was unaware that Council was going to interfere and use its newly gained military might to turn the tides of war. In 798 A.S., when the Gallic Army has initiated an overall offensive, the Council breached the planetary defenses, and Council corps landed on the planet. Gradually, the situation on Marne has changed: in 801 A.S., after years of bloody fighting, the whole planet was under control of the Council. Marne soon became the center of Council government and seat of the High Command. Cities were rebuilt, but millions of former workers have lost their job because the factories where they worked were destroyed or plundered; those workers formed an endless supply of dedicated recruits who joined the Council fleets in order to fight their former opressors from the Core Systems.

Champagne is the birthplace of The Council, and with it the Second Gallic War. The events in the Champagne system have sculpted what Gallia is today, and may yet change all of Sirius. It remains the Council's fortress, and even the Gallic Royal Navy does not often launch attacks into the system.

Planetary Bodies
Planet Sedan
- A cold icy world with rock outcrops on its surface. Despite very low temperatures, the planet contains valuable mineral deposits, and Gallic Mining Service have planned to establish mining colonies planetside. However, the Second Gallic War that burst out in 794 A.S. has put an end to those plans, since Champagne has been completely taken under Council control by 803 A.S., and the Gallic Navy has failed to retake the system ever since.

- Reims was built by EFL Oil & Machinery in 643 A.S. In 798 A.S., when the civil war on Marne have entered its crucial stage, the station was captured by Council marines. Casualties were high, cause Council troops in the beginning of the war were outgunned and badly trained, but numerical superiority has ensured Council a victory in their first hostile action against Gallic government. Now Reims plays an important role in Council's economy, being a point of transit for smuggled goods coming to and from the Core Systems of Gallia.

Chalons-en-Champagne Station
- Chalons-en-Champagne was built in 709 A.S. on the orbit of Planet Marne. Serving to supply corporate needs and to provide safe heaven for local Police patrols, this station was captured by the Council in 798 A.S., shortly after Reims was captured in a similar fashion. Council was quick in converting Chalons-en-Champagne into a ship-building facility, capable of constructing and repairing Council ships of almost any class, large and small. The station was also heavily fortified to counter potential attacks from the Lorraine system.
- Location: F/6
- Class: Valliere
- Gravity: Complete

- Representative of the new Alsace class battleships built by the Council, Chaumont was heavily damaged by Gallic Navy in Burgundy, and since then remains stationed not far from the Lorraine Jump Gate to defend the system from GRN attack patrols and scouts.

- Courville was a Gallic Royal Police installation that was destroyed by offensive Council forces in 802 A.S. Later, in 812 A.S., it was partially repaired by the Council and re-pressured to guard entrance to Champagne system from Burgundy. Several weapon platforms with long-range weaponry were constructed around the station to provide additional protection. Most of the station, however, remains devoid of atmosphere and gravitation; Council says that it has no resources to complete repairs. Some say that the station will not be able to hold for long against a full-scale offensive of Gallic Navy fleets, and in this case Council is planning to sacrifice Courville to buy some time for regrouping its forces near Marne and Reims.
- Location: B/5
- Class: Unknown
- Gravity: Partial
- Docking: Yes
- Amenities: None
- Population: 100
|
- Montmirail Base was built by the Council in 742 A.S., shortly after Macon. It was actively used for building up Council forces prior to the Second Gallic War; from here, Council staged its first attacks against the Gallic Navy in 798 A.S. After the fighting on Marne was over, many Council members who previously lived on Macon and Montmirail have settled planetside. Of Montmirail's 1800 population recorded before the war, only about two hundred remain there nowadays, mostly patrol fighter pilots, marines and maintenance engineers.
- Location: B/6
- Class: Dizy
- Gravity: Complete
- Docking: Yes
- Amenities: Yes
- Population: 200

- Dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) is odorless, tasteless, transparent, and absolutely essential to human life. Roughly 75% of the human body is composed of Water. Deprived of Water, most humans can only live three days. The process of dehydration is a painful one, as tissues shrivel and vessels shrink in a desperate bid by the dying body to preserve its remaining vital functions.

- The rapid industrialization that followed the settlement of the Sirius Sector has resulted in large fields of Scrap Metal, the detritus resulting from extensive manufacturing and mining operations. These debris fields present both a navigational hazard and a potential second-stage resource, so a small cottage industry has sprung up among those who collect scrap metal and resell it at smelting plants.
