As the Legion drew in more recruits from across Liberty, they had to find a location to host them all. Hollowing out a massive rocky planetoid in the Sorona ice field was the most logical choice. Combined with its strategic location within the Sonora, Monterrey’s dense rocky shell serves as excellent protection for those living at the base. Monterrey's primary facilities cater to the manufacturing and maintenance of fighters and other small craft, usually working independently of the production lines on Fort Leniex.
The base also has extensive cargo storage bays to receive and stockpile supplies, such as Fuel, for other Legion stations in Vespucci. A few auxiliary production facilities on the base cater to some of the Legion's non-combat requirements, but due to the relatively high population of Monterrey for an asteroid base, the capacity and needs for such fluctuate.
