Template
Please place this template on pages that are to be deleted (except redirects):
'''Deletion''': This page is up for [[Page Deletion|deletion]].
- The above unsigned comment is not really a template, but the idea is valid. I have created a template to be used to mark pages for deletion: Template:Delete. It adds a message box to the page and adds the page to Category:Pages up for deletion. This makes it easier to mark and find pages. If admins use this page to find pages that need deleting, perhaps a note should be added to this page as well as putting the template on the to-be-deleted page? In any case, I am adding to this page a link to Category:Pages up for deletion. -- Eyvind (talk • contrib) 01:20, 22 February 2009 (MST)
Namespace
This page should be in the Discovery Wiki: namespace, not the article namespace. --TsaryuTalk 08:59, 22 June 2009 (MDT)
- There are two of these Deletion pages. The category, and this custom page. This one is for the admins to delete those pages that have been marked and confirmed. The other one is for the normal editors to discuss and put up pages for discussion to delete. Unless I misunderstood? Perhaps a better question would be, why would we put it the the Discovery Wiki: namespace and how do we get it there? ~Chovynz~ (Blabs • Ego) 15:17, 22 June 2009 (MDT)
- I'm not sure what was originally intended by having two seperate pages. Anyhow, neither of those should be on the article namespace, since those have nothing to do with the Discovery project but with the organization of this wiki, thus they both should be in the Discovery Wiki: namespace.
- Getting it there is easy, just move it to Discovery Wiki:Page Deletion, and the wiki software won't show this article in the list of regular articles, just as it should be. --TsaryuTalk 15:43, 22 June 2009 (MDT)
Deletion grace period
"Pages that are nominated for deletion will be given a grace period of Sometime to discuss the proposition in full. If no valid arguments against the deletion of the page are given, a moderator will remove the page from the wiki at that point. Note that a deleted page can be recreated following its deletion."
I changed this to "Sometime" since the one week grace period doesn't work on this wiki - it is too short a time-frame. We have only two people capable of deleting the pages - Igiss and Blodo. Igiss doesn't really do anything on the wiki and Blodo is extremely busy as it is. The "one week" also puts undue pressure on certain pages and people. Many people don't get to see or check the wiki within one week. Now it is more relaxed about the time frame, but still worded such that it is seriously considered and/or challenged when up for deletion. Discuss. ~Chovynz~ (Blabs • Ego) 06:05, 24 June 2009 (MDT)
