Heinrich Schmid aka Henry Blacksmith is a honorable and fair man. He uses his experience that he gathered in his life in order to keep his principles.

Becoming an adult

Mr. Heinrich Schmid studied policy science for four years. While the war with Liberty was going on and the threat of the Hessians became bigger and bigger, he recognized that Rheinland needs deeds more than words. After his change of mind he stopped to study and entered the line of a long military tradition like his forebears. With great zest for action he swore to protect the Bundesrepublik Rheinland with his life.

Pilots were needed like never before and he soon started to train with his inherited Valkyre. Of course he wasn't able to affect much all alone and that's why he decided to apply for the proud Rheinland Military.

Being part of the Rheinland Military

Finally Schmid made it to the front rows of the Military and soon he was allowed to move in his spartanic flat. After the first trainings and examinations he was promoted to the rank of the Flieger.

The time for his own patrols had come. Even a few times he was part of invasion fleets going for Liberty. This time of his life was also when he first faced the threat of the nomads.

Anyways it didn't take too much time for him to recognize that the main pain of Rheinland are covert operations, having their origin at Das Wilde or at the LSF, well organised and impossible for the Military to stop. This resulted in not working on his promotion, because he had to set up priorities.

Life as a Freelancer

Regardless of his family's sorrow, Heinrich quitted the Military. As a freelancer he was able to manage his daily life like he wanted to. Of course he lost his monthly income, but he was convinced that it was the right decision. Many infected pilots have fallen because of Schmid's actions.

After quite long time he again had to recognize that he had to change something. Alone in his vessel he wasn't able to fight against larger groups of infected pilots. Schmid had to find people who exactly think the same.

The time at the Buro Der Marineintelligenz

Then, the freelancer had heard rumours of an organisation acting in small and efficient groups everywhere all over Sirius in order to support Rheinland. This fact lead him to trying to contact people who possibly are involved. Nearly endless time passed and he even thought about giving up, but finally he randomly made acquaintance with a pilot called Hans Schneider at the bar of Battleship Strausberg. They became familiar and Heinrich of course asked him about such an organisation. He told Herr Schmid that obviously most of the rumours he heard would be true and gave him the specific frequency on which he should send his application. Not knowing wether he should believe this, his application had been sent. Later his friend from the bar at Strausberg turned out to be an Inspektor of the Buro himself.

A few days after that he received an answer on the same frequency. This organisation was called the Buro Der Marineintelligenz and after all it seemed like he had just been accepted to the secret service of Rheinland.

The rumours had proved to be true and he was able to hurt das Wilde quite hard, several battles have been fought when the parasite infested had finally been pushed back to their home systems.

The U-95 in the Badlands

After some time Mr. Schmid made it to the rank of the Inspektor. At this rank he also decided to join the special wing of the U-Flotille. With all the credits that he had collected over the years, he was able to acquire a Rheinland Gunboat, with which he started his first anti-supply attacks. The gunboat, the U-95, had great success in preventing the Liberty Navy and their transports to support one of their new constructed bases.

By reaching the rank of the Oberinspektor, Heinrich has lead the negotiations with a Blood Dragon-splinter group. Those were sniffing in Rheinland territory, much deeper than Sigma-13.

After uncountable times of fighting back Das Wilde, he finally came to the point that fighting against them is like fighting against robots which have their eyes and ears even behind them. Not to mention the danger which comes from the nomad technology. He decided that something should be done in order to gain an advantage in fighting against them. But what? Research should have been the solution.

Quite a long time later, the Oberinspektor made acquintance with Jared Nomak, a Samarran Raider. After talking for some time with this pirate, like he called himself, it was clear that his kind worships the nomads. Additionally Schmid's scanners were showing a strange energy signature having its origins from the shield hardpoint on Mr. Nomak's Sabre. It was the same signature he knew from Nomad Veils. Regardless of how he got that strange shield, it was crystal clear that this guy must have a good relation with the nomads and the important fact; a big knowledge about them.

To be continued...
