The Battleship Kokura is one of a handful of venerable Togo class battleships the Blood Dragons escaped with following the bloody Samura coup of 321 A.S.. The small fleet was largely sequestered away in the clouds of the Crow Nebula, with the Dragons slowly reactivating the fearsome relics over the ensuing centuries as resources became available. Originally produced in the long-dismantled Shogunate shipyards of Tohoku, the Kokura found a new home at Mito Shipyards circa 600 A.S., where it was the first Togo class battleship to be reactivated, restored and modernised. The Battleships are only ever utilised for the most pressing of purposes and are so scarcely seen outside of Chugoku that many Naval officers deride them as nothing more than mere myths.

That such an irreplaceable and vital element of Chugoku's defence fleet was deployed to the Nagano system in 822 AS speaks volumes about the strategic value placed upon the conflict by Shogunate forces. The Kokura had acted as a mobile support carrier for Blood Dragon forces staging attacks on Planet Tomioka, however with the Kusari government beginning construction of infrastructure linking Kyushu to Tottori, and Tottori to Nagano, in order to secure their gains in the Nagano system, the Kokura was moved to Tottori to cause as many issues for the government as possible, buying vital time for the Blood Dragon forces in Nagano.
