Circular Logic, Inc., was established as a joint partnership between Carter Mineral Resources and Solar Wind Shipping, pooling their resources along with a significant Interspace investment to create a well-rounded company capable of adapting to the unpredictable needs of a nation at war.
Operating primarily out of offices on Interspace bases, CLI offers the standard array of cargo and escort services, in addition to a fledgling excavation and reclamations branch. Though not as efficient as DSE's mining branch, their operations are consdierably more diverse and include a reasonably efficient salvaging division that hopes to cut into ALG's profits.
Background
Carter Mineral Resources was founded in 729 AS by Andrew Carter, an aspiring actor that suffered the near-total loss of his voice in an atmospheric shuttle accident. With nowhere else to turn, and his inability to clearly speak hindering his employment opportunities, he started a mining company with an old friend of his. The company stayed in the family for many years, but was never able to grow beyond a small squad of miners and excavators. James Carter in 801 AS established the salvage division, which met with some success despite very limited equipment.
Solar Wind Shipping's history was, in many ways, an echo of CMR. Started in 750 AS by Carl and Lily Carson, SWS specialized in smaller cargoes and maintained a small fleet of freighters. Seeing an opportunity in 800 AS, they focused their efforts on the increasingly-nervous scientific community, who valued a secure and discreet cargo service in the increasingly chaotic time. but in the absence of any ship larger than a Pelican, they were relegated to a small business that barely remained afloat.
Interspace Commerce approached both companies in 815 AS with a proposal: the two companies would merge and receive a significant investment from Interspace, in exchange for IC receiving a cut of the profits and maintaining a degree of control over the operation of the company. The last few years have shown that this was a wise decision, and Interspace expects a profitable return on their investment within three years.
