Introduction

Synth Foods is a Libertonian company that produces Synth Paste. The most popular food source in the entire colonies. On top of that it offers a highly succesfull line of Bio-domes

It has a strong presence on the food market in Liberty, Rheinland and Kusari and is both loved and hated throughout the colonies.

Faction History

Synth Foods started in Liberty as a small biotechnological company. The development of versatile genetically modified plant that would thrive in just about any environment and could easily be processed into a generic nutritional paste was the breakthrough of this company.

Planet Los Angeles was found to be the perfect location for large scale cultivation of the plant, which was based upon the old terran plant kelp. The product of Synth Paste was a great success in Liberty and it took the local market by storm. Production and sales just kept increasing till 60% of the food market was occupied by Synth Paste in many kinds of flavor.

As a further step in the development of Synth Paste the company developed Bio-dome technology for growing on off-planet locations. This technology has been marketed to many bases on distant locations as knock-down kits and the company continues to develop and provide support for these domes.

Through support of the Libertonian Governement the company was allowed access on Planet Stuttgart and the Rheinland market. Synth Foods was able to gather large patches of land for production of their plants and was slowly forcing the formerly influential WVS (stuttgart farmers union) to bow under their political pressure. In the last few decades Synth Foods has been able to increase their holding size to almost 90% of the agricultural production of the entire planet. Taking up a large share on the food market in Rheinland and increasing the export to Liberty as well as diversifying their produce to include luxury goods and Tobacco. Synth Foods activities in Rheinland are under heavy pressure by terrorists and criminals.

Synth foods has fairly recently been allowed onto the Kusari market with support from the Libertonian government and lobbying by Kishiro. Over night it became highly popular in the urban areas of New Tokyo and Honshu. Most of the paste is imported from Stuttgart and Los Angeles with smaller amounts produced locally on Deshima station. Terrorists specifically aimed at Synth Foods have also sprung up in Kusari.

Just a few years ago a joint project of Cryer pharmaceuticals, Planetform and Synth Foods developed the xeno-biotic filter. A way of making most waste completely recyclable. These filters have increased the growing capabilities of Bio-Domes and will continue to be marketed to new and existing customers.

To this date Synth Foods sells the most popular food source in the colonies and plans including expanding the Kusari operations at Deshima and relocating the Libertonian production to the planet of California Minor.

Structure of the company

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of three Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of each of SynthFood's House Divisions.

Synth Foods Liberty Division

The original home of Synth Foods, the Corporate Headquarters and Research & Development departement are both based on planet Los Angels. The original production sites of Synth Foods are still in use on this planet however there are plans to phase out production on this planet in favor of the more sustainable production on Stuttgart and on California Minor as soon as terraforming operations are completed.

Synth Foods occupies an approximate 80% of the food market in Liberty. The other 20% is occupied by Luxury foods imported from Bretonia. Coporate activities in Bretonia and systems directly bordering Liberty are also coordinated by this division.

Synth Foods Rheinland Division

With the help of the Libertonian government Synth Foods was allowed corporate access to Planet Stuttgart. In the past decades the company has been expanding their production capabilities on the planet and it now owns 90% of the agricultural production capacity. Production is still on the rise even with the setbacks dealt by local terrorist organisation. Synth Foods is also supporting various incentives to increase agricultural production planet wide.

The company has gathered the largest market share in the Rheinland food Market. Their Trade ships supply almost all inhabited planets even with the high levels of crime running rampant in Rheinland. On top of the supplying the local markets export continues towards Kusari and in smaller amounts towards Liberty.

Bonn station is the home to the local headquarters for the house of Rheinland and the omega systems. For safety reasons Synth Foods does not keep any head offices on planet side locations throughout Rheinland.

Synth Foods Kusari Division

Helped in their negotiations by the Liberty government Synth Foods got access to distribute their products on planet New Tokyo. Access to Honshu was later given due to lobbying by Kishiro. Synth Foods became an overnight success in urban areas as many consumers switched to the cheaper Synth Paste instead of the expensive Kyushu grown food distributed by Samura.

Deshima was quickly settled as a small scale production facility to lessen the need for imported paste from Rheinland and Liberty. Plans are in place to expand the production capabilities of this base dramatically.

The House Headquarters and Distribution for Kusari, the Sigma systems and the upper Tau systems are located on Roppongi station in orbit of Planet New Tokyo

Synth Foods Biodome development

The genetically modified plants that where developed by Synth Foods can grow in just about any environment and also thrive in Bio-Dome environments. The company developed these Bio-Domes to be able to have spacebourne production at distant locations as well as planet side production in ultra-harsh environments.

The Biodomes have been marketed as knock-down kits to many stations including Freeports out in the Borderworlds. Synth Foods demands that Bio-Dome owners whishing to sell their excess produce back through their distribution channels buy their growing supplies and maintenance through Synth Foods.

Naming Convention

  • Trade/Transportation ships

[Synth]<Ship name> (i.e. [Synth]Daisy)

  • Fighters/Escorts

[Synth]Firstname.Lastname (i.e. [Synth]John.Doe)

ooRP: It is not required but strongly encouraged that cargo captains named their ships after plants. Bigger the ship - bigger the plant. So a good name for Gull is [Synth]Daisy; good name for Stork will be [Synth]Sequoia
