Taormina was commissioned in early 823 A.S. by the Reapers of Sirius as a means to expand their immediate zone of operations from the deep Omegas. With their increased interest to act as mercenaries for hire to fund needed supplies for Cayman, the consistent conflict of this system drew their attention as a place to construct their first new outpost.
With most of their contract targets in this region being openly allied with the Reapers' worst enemies, it was an easy political move for them to make. However, they have found themselves occasionally at odds with the Bounty Hunters Guild, who have seen them as unwanted competition.
