Chateau d'If is heavily defended against attacks from space and attempts to breach its hull both from inside and outside. The station has heavy armor plating and an extensive system of defensive turrets designed by the Navy engineers. Its location in the close orbit of [[Planet Marseille|Marseille]] ensures that it is always within range of local Navy patrols and [[Battleship Arles]], making forced escapes virtually impossible.
