| description = Pennsylvania was originally settled by Zoners. Liberty's interest in the system gradually grew and House influence increased steadily until the System was heavily patrolled by the [[Liberty Police]] and [[Liberty Navy]] and was declared an independent system under [[Liberty]] protection. Thought dissent is prevalent among Zoners, any real resistance is beyond practical possibility.

| description = Hokkaido, otherwise known as the youngest of the five [[Kusari]] core systems is host to a number of [[Samura]] and [[DSE]] operations. Hokkaido at first was considered empty of any interesting features or characteristics due to it's lack of land mass and natural satellites. The blind eye that was turned to this part of Kusari was taken advantage of by the feminist, liberalist group the [[Golden Chrysanthemums]] which are now believed to have an established presence within the system. Most other organisations and factions took little interest in the system until [[DSE]] took a contract to construct a jump gate to the unchartered [[Chugoku]] system. The convicted terrorist group the [[Blood Dragons]] soon made their presence known within the system and highly opposed the project with a constant campaign to disrupt and end the project.

In an attempt to re-establish order and ensure the safety of the workers on the [[Chugoku Gate Construction Site]] the [[Battleship Matsumoto]] was stationed to watch over the developments there soon after. In recent years [[Samura Heavy Industries]] have also taken an interest in the system for it's abundance in [[H-Fuel]] as an alternative to doing business with their rivals the [[GMG]].

: The green world of Erie was discovered in 679 A.S. Although the Pennsylvania system is located relatively close to New York, it took some time before Liberty became interested in its exploration. Erie was the only planet in the system with environment suitable for human colonization. Ecosystem of the planet was exceptionally rich with various land and water species, and in some way resembled Earth of Triassic period. At first, Liberty considered Erie to be suitable place of colonization for undesired elements from Manhattan. Later, however, it became known that some of microorganisms that inhabit Erie can infect humans, and numerous predators pose significant danger. Since Liberty was not ready to provide socially undesirable colonists with expensive medical supplies or weaponry to defend themselves, plans to colonize Erie have been delayed.

: In 761 A.S., a group of Zoner colonists landed planetside. Awared of the dangers posed by local wildlife, they drained swamps in a few selected areas to eliminate insects that were major carriers of local diseases. Later, well-developed settlements were built in the drained territories. Settlements grew into cities, and many Zoners started to consider this planet as their new home, much like to Gran Canaria. Liberty, of course, was aware of their progress, unwilling to allow an independent colony to arise within its borders. Liberty Security Force agents on the planet have secretly bribed a group of high-rank Zoner councellors who controlled most of the planet's economy and space transit. At about the same time, Liberty Rogues and Xenos have found jump hole paths into Pennsylvania and established bases of operation there. While the Zoners had enough firepower to fight back the intruders and protect their convoys, some of the councillors overestimated the threat, attempting to cause panic between pilots and civilian population. In the end, government of Erie made an ambiguous decision to invite Liberty Police Inc. to protect their Pennsylvania bases and trade routes.

: Most of the local Zoners reacted negatively to this decision, and some even started to assemble resistance detachments in order to start a guerilla war in case Liberty will overstep its bounds. Liberty officials were witty enough to see economical benefits that the presence of Zoners provided, and avoided the fighting. Declaring Pennsylvania an independent system under Liberty protectorate, they offered Zoners economical and political freedom. Moreover, Liberty has built a system of trade lanes to allow safer and faster travels between Pennsylvania stations and New York. While the system is supervised by Liberty governor, the Zoner cities on Erie are self-governed and enjoy complete autonomy, unlike former Zoner space stations that have completely been taken under control of LPI. Zoners, of course, are not fully satisfied with their agreement with Liberty; however, they have to admit that any attempts to overthrow the Liberty reign will result in a war with the nearby House, leading to destruction of their new world.

: Appalachian Asteroid Field is a place where New York Jump Gate in Pennsylvania is located. The gate and nearby trade lane made this area popular with pirates, most notably Liberty Rogues. It is rumored that a Rogue base is located in one of the remote regions of this large field. Despite the dangers, Appalachian is an asset of value for freelancers and small shipping companies: central part of the field is rich with hydrocarbons that can be mined from asteroids without much effort. Quantities of hydrocarbons are not sufficient for industrial extraction, and larger companies did not show interest in using local deposits.
+
: A cloud that was only recently discovered to conceal large fields of H-Fuel. Samura has begun harvesting the Fuel using Sapporo Station as its base, in an opening of the cloud near the New Tokyo jump gate, but has found itself in conflict with Golden Chrysanthemum terrorists who claim the cloud for their own. Little can be done to guard the gas miners and trade lanes that lead through the cloud to the Rishiri jump gate on the other side of the system.

: Ralston Ice Field is located within the Hallam Nebula. The field is notable for significant amounts of helium trapped in the asteroids that form the field. Extremely low temperatures within the nebula do not allow to use asteroid miners in the field, however, standard cargo tracking equipment installed on most ships allows to mine out this element in small quantities.

: While Liberty government showed no interest in Pennsylvania and allowed Zoners and civilian companies to populate the system, the settlers established first cities on Planet Erie and turned to building space stations. Philadelphia became the first of them, completed in 764 A.S. More components were attached to the station later, including a large manufacturing plant and biodomes. As new bases were built in Pennsylvania and economical activites were rising, piracy started to increase as well, and Zoners had to use the help of Liberty government to keep unlawful presence under control. Nowadays, Philadelphia became the center of Liberty government in Pennsylvania, lead by governor, Sebastian Guillemot, formerly a lawyer and high-ranked employee of Ageira Technologies. Station is controlled by Liberty Police Inc., with more than 2000 civilians, personnel and corporate representatives residing in the station's living quarters. Manhattan intentionally decided to keep Liberty officials away from Planet Erie to give the colonists an impression that they are truly independent.

: Constructed at Yokohama Shipyards in 798 A.S., the Battleship Matsumoto is one of the Genji class battleships that were built primarily as mobile bases and for securing key locations from pirate forces, rather than for the crushing brutality of frontline warfare against other capital ships, where manoeuvrability is often the key. As a result, the Matsumoto lacks the agility of its brothers but packs in considerably more armour, sensors and firepower. Currently the battleship is under the command of Shosho Tatsuya Mochizuki, and has been stationed near to the Chugoku Gate construction site in order to safeguard the area from Blood Dragon and Golden Chrysanthemum attacks.

: Junkers were part of the original populace who settled in Pennsylvania. After arrival of Liberty Rogues, Junkers were most ready to trade and exchange resources with them. Zoners demanded that the Rogues should not be allowed into Erie, however, Junkers ignored the request, and the current relations between Junkers and local Zoners are quite tedious.
+
: Most scholars date the start of the group as the publication of Golden Chrysanthemum in Bloom in 642 A.S. The author, Yuyu Matsuda, was a young but critically acclaimed poet. Charismatic and well-spoken, Matsuda had a considerable following among young Kusari women who found their lives lacking in direction but were reluctant to become married and fulfil their traditional role in Kusari society.
 +

 +
: Yuyu decried what she saw as the corruption of the Kusari male-dominated culture and preached a revolution led by the long-suffering women of Kusari. These ideas were eventually encapsulated in Golden Chrysanthemum in Bloom, in which Matsuda described a fictitious nation called Yomi. A place of fat, lazy male bureaucrats who handed out concessions at the whim of entrenched mega-corporations, Yomi was eventually engulfed in revolution and united under the rule of a benevolent Empress personally selected by the goddess Amaterasu to watch over her people.
 +

 +
: Matsuda looked to the foreigners as a model, where women could be president and run corporations. The Chrysanthemum went on to become a best-seller. Unfortunately, in 648 A.S., Matsuda crossed the dangerous line between ideas and actions when she was implicated in the botched assassination attempt of the planetary governor of Kyushu. Rather than face the ignominy of imprisonment, Matsuda chose ritual suicide instead. An increase in attacks on government personnel and installations followedsoon after.
 +

 +
: Unfortunately, any attempts to locate the Golden Chrysanthemum base or learn more about their organization has been thwarted by their willingness to die rather than talk. A Golden C. pilot will trigger her ship's self-destruction rather than be captured, and suicide attacks are common. Attempts to infiltrate the Golden C. have proven equally fruitless, due to the rituals, security measures and Cardamine addiction required to become a fully fledged member. On several occasions the Kusari government has received the finger of an undercover agent wrapped in a page from one of Matsuda's books.
 +

 +
: The Kusari State Police tries to keep a watchful eye on the faction, but has been unable to curb their activities with any real success. This is somewhat due to the assistance of the Blood Dragons, who have made use of Ainu Depot as a rest stop on the long journey to the inner systems of Kusari. The Blood Dragons also share the group's desire to overthrow the government and reform House Kusari, although this may eventually lead to an ideological conflict between the two groups, as the Blood Dragons may not concede to all the social reforms that the Golden Chrysanthemums will insist upon.
 +

 +
: Originally, the Golden Chrysanthemums were never as well armed as the Blood Dragons nor as influential as the Hogosha, and were more of an irritant to the government than an actual threat. In recent years however, especially in the wake of the war against Bretonia, greater amounts of funding from the increased popularity of Cardamine, and recruits from the dissatisfied younger elements of Kusari society, have flooded into the organisation. The Golden Chrysanthemums have grown to potentially rival the paramilitary power of the Blood Dragons, both in technology and in the quality of pilots, although due to their radical ideas they still lack the considerable political influence that the Blood Dragons secretly wield within elements of the Kusari government.

: Pennsylvania houses a large populace of Liberty Rogues, many of whom are family members of other Rogues who operate in more dangerous areas of Liberty. Niverton guarantees safety for all of them, since Navy or Police patrols rarely venture in the area, and asteroid field doesn't allow capital ships to operate efficiently.
+
: As the construction of the Chugoku jump gate neared its conclusion, the supply base that was used to store materials and house the construction and security personnel gradually lost it's purpose. Blood Dragon attacks on the gate however did not relent, and the Kusari government was forced to assign additional security to the region.
 +

 +
: The Kusari State Police have been given control of the old supply depot, and have converted it into a border outpost from which they can oversee traffic heading through the gate. However, despite the outpost's presence, Blood Dragon activity remains high throughout upper Hokkaido.

: Relative safety of Pennsylvania and presence of barely defended civilian convoys has attracted a significant Xeno population. Some of them are struggling for survival, while some have built a fortune after hijacking a couple of especially valuable Zoner shipments.
+
: Built by Samura Industries shortly after the New Tokyo to Hokkaido jump gate was completed, Sapporo Station was originally intended to act as a base of operations from which Samura could survey the surrounding gas clouds and systems for resources. Ever since Kishiro and the GMG signed an agreement to open up Sigma 19 for exclusive exploitation, Samura has found itself all but locked out of the H-Fuel markets, despite the majority of the fuel still being stored at Osaka Storage Facility.
 +

 +
: But with the Chugoku Gate construction project pressing ahead, and the resulting drastic increases in piracy and terrorism, Samura has been forced by the Kusari Shogunate to house Deep Space Engineering and Universal Shipping officials, as well as offering a convenient base for the Kusari State Police to operation from in their never ending attempt to curb the rampant terrorism throughout Hokkaido.

It houses over three thousand colonists, mainly Zoners and representatives of Liberty corporations, and consists of multiple station modules with factories, living quarters, storage facilities, and two biodomes. While Zoners form the majority of its population, the station is controlled by Liberty Police Inc. and was built using the money of Liberty corporations that now participate in its operation. Its boiling and melting points are the lowest among the elements and it exists only as a gas except in extreme conditions. Accumulated in a number of ice asteroid fields around Sirius, helium is required for a number of industries along with neon, and is mined in small to medium quantities by independent suppliers.

: Hydrocarbons are a class of organic compounds composed only of hydrogen and carbon molecules, resulting in a wide variety of substances that have important industrial applications. While hydrocarbons naturally occur in a gaseous state almost everywhere in the known universe, frozen deposits present the most easily exploited form of the substance. Hydrocarbon mining is key to the industrialization of the Sirius Sector as it provides the raw materials for the creation of the Ship Hull Panels and Optronics, upon which modern society depends.
+
: A lighter isotope of Helium gas, He3 is an essential component of the H-Fuel used across Sirius. When mixed in equal proportion with Deuterium, the resulting fuel has the advantage of being 'aneutronic' - that is, it does not produce dangerous neutrons that require heavy shielding. Gas Mining companies like the GMG and Samura can charge a premium by delivering the Helium-3 component directly to customers, letting them add their own Deuterium onsite. Known reserves of Helium-3 are in the Crow Nebula of the Sigmas, and the Shiden Cloud in the Hokkaido system.

: Ore is a type of rock that contains minerals such as metals which can be extracted through mining and refined for use. The ores must be processed to extract the metals of interest from the waste rock and from the ore minerals. Many organizations prefer to receive unsmelted ores in order to keep the additional cost of their production and finish within the local economy, as opposed to paying markups to foreign laborers to do the work for them.

Hokkaido, otherwise known as the youngest of the five Kusari core systems is host to a number of Samura and DSE operations. Hokkaido at first was considered empty of any interesting features or characteristics due to it's lack of land mass and natural satellites. The blind eye that was turned to this part of Kusari was taken advantage of by the feminist, liberalist group the Golden Chrysanthemums which are now believed to have an established presence within the system. Most other organisations and factions took little interest in the system until DSE took a contract to construct a jump gate to the unchartered Chugoku system. The convicted terrorist group the Blood Dragons soon made their presence known within the system and highly opposed the project with a constant campaign to disrupt and end the project.

In an attempt to re-establish order and ensure the safety of the workers on the Chugoku Gate Construction Site the Battleship Matsumoto was stationed to watch over the developments there soon after. In recent years Samura Heavy Industries have also taken an interest in the system for it's abundance in H-Fuel as an alternative to doing business with their rivals the GMG.

Jump Gates and Holes

Nebula and Asteroids

Shiden Cloud

Please upload an image of this field.
A cloud that was only recently discovered to conceal large fields of H-Fuel.
Location: E/7

Kayo Cloud

Kayo Cloud
A gaseous cloud. Blood Dragons frequently use the cloud to launch attacks against the trade lanes in Hokkaido.
Location: C/3

Unyo Cloud

Unyo Cloud
A gaseous cloud. A line of trade lanes cuts through the cloud leading the way through the lethally dangerous Kyofu -- and the Kyofu is not the only danger. Blood Dragons often lurk in the cloud waiting to attack supply shipments headed to and from Misaki Station or the new developments taking place in the Nagano system beyond Rishiri.

Battleship Matsumoto

Battleship Matsumoto
Constructed at Yokohama Shipyards in 798 A.S., the Battleship Matsumoto is one of the Genji class battleships that were built primarily as mobile bases and for securing key locations from pirate forces, rather than for the crushing brutality of frontline warfare against other capital ships, where manoeuvrability is often the key.

Ainu Depot

Ainu Depot
Most scholars date the start of the group as the publication of Golden Chrysanthemum in Bloom in 642 A.S. The author, Yuyu Matsuda, was a young but critically acclaimed poet. Charismatic and well-spoken, Matsuda had a considerable following among young Kusari women who found their lives lacking in direction but were reluctant to become married and fulfil their traditional role in Kusari society.
Yuyu decried what she saw as the corruption of the Kusari male-dominated culture and preached a revolution led by the long-suffering women of Kusari.
Matsuda looked to the foreigners as a model, where women could be president and run corporations.
Unfortunately, any attempts to locate the Golden Chrysanthemum base or learn more about their organization has been thwarted by their willingness to die rather than talk. A Golden C. pilot will trigger her ship's self-destruction rather than be captured, and suicide attacks are common. Attempts to infiltrate the Golden C. have proven equally fruitless, due to the rituals, security measures and Cardamine addiction required to become a fully fledged member. On several occasions the Kusari government has received the finger of an undercover agent wrapped in a page from one of Matsuda's books.
The Kusari State Police tries to keep a watchful eye on the faction, but has been unable to curb their activities with any real success.
Originally, the Golden Chrysanthemums were never as well armed as the Blood Dragons nor as influential as the Hogosha, and were more of an irritant to the government than an actual threat.

Otaru Border Station

Otaru Border Station
As the construction of the Chugoku jump gate neared its conclusion, the supply base that was used to store materials and house the construction and security personnel gradually lost it's purpose. Blood Dragon attacks on the gate however did not relent, and the Kusari government was forced to assign additional security to the region.
The Kusari State Police have been given control of the old supply depot, and have converted it into a border outpost from which they can oversee traffic heading through the gate. However, despite the outpost's presence, Blood Dragon activity remains high throughout upper Hokkaido.

Sapporo Station

Sapporo Station
Built by Samura Industries shortly after the New Tokyo to Hokkaido jump gate was completed, Sapporo Station was originally intended to act as a base of operations from which Samura could survey the surrounding gas clouds and systems for resources. Ever since Kishiro and the GMG signed an agreement to open up Sigma 19 for exclusive exploitation, Samura has found itself all but locked out of the H-Fuel markets, despite the majority of the fuel still being stored at Osaka Storage Facility.
But with the Chugoku Gate construction project pressing ahead, and the resulting drastic increases in piracy and terrorism, Samura has been forced by the Kusari Shogunate to house Deep Space Engineering and Universal Shipping officials, as well as offering a convenient base for the Kusari State Police to operation from in their never ending attempt to curb the rampant terrorism throughout Hokkaido.

Alien Organisms
A previously undiscovered bacterial lifeform unique to the Sirius Sector, these microorganisms are remarkably efficient at metabolizing certain elements into oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. When seeded in an immature planetary environment they can accelerate the terraforming process tenfold, or provide a rich, abundant source of food for other organisms in more mature planetary ecosystems.

Helium-3

Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination
Helium-3
A lighter isotope of Helium gas, He3 is an essential component of the H-Fuel used across Sirius.
