| description = Hokkaido, otherwise known as the youngest of the five [[Kusari]] core systems is host to a number of [[Samura]] and [[DSE]] operations. Hokkaido at first was considered empty of any interesting features or characteristics due to it's lack of land mass and natural satellites. The blind eye that was turned to this part of Kusari was taken advantage of by the feminist, liberalist group the [[Golden Chrysanthemums]] which are now believed to have an established presence within the system. Most other organisations and factions took little interest in the system until [[DSE]] took a contract to construct a jump gate to the unchartered [[Chugoku]] system. The convicted terrorist group the [[Blood Dragons]] soon made their presence known within the system and highly opposed the project with a constant campaign to disrupt and end the project.
+
| description = The little known Nagano System is a remote area on the borders of [[Kusari]] space reached only through the newly developed [[Okinawa]] System and a system known only to the Blood Dragons. Because of its remote location and sparse resources there has been no commercial development to date. Farmers Alliance sources claim to have a base there, but this claim has not been independently verified.

In an attempt to re-establish order and ensure the safety of the workers on the [[Chugoku Gate Construction Site]] the [[Battleship Matsumoto]] was stationed to watch over the developments there soon after. In recent years [[Samura Heavy Industries]] have also taken an interest in the system for it's abundance in [[H-Fuel]] as an alternative to doing business with their rivals the [[GMG]].

: A cloud that was only recently discovered to conceal large fields of H-Fuel. Samura has begun harvesting the Fuel using Sapporo Station as its base, in an opening of the cloud near the New Tokyo jump gate, but has found itself in conflict with Golden Chrysanthemum terrorists who claim the cloud for their own. Little can be done to guard the gas miners and trade lanes that lead through the cloud to the Rishiri jump gate on the other side of the system.
+
: The gas giant Kodo is a wonder of Sirius evolution. Home to a very resourceful species of alien organism, Kodo is mainly composed of Nitrogen and Carbon, with sparse traces of Oxygen. Despite the abundance of useful resources the high cost of construction and security coupled with the difficulty of extracting the gases from the planet's massive gravity well quickly abolished any hopes of an operation in Kodo's orbit.

: A gaseous cloud. Blood Dragons frequently use the cloud to launch attacks against the trade lanes in Hokkaido.
+
: Early in 815 A.S., after the Gas Miners Guild project in Okinawa was released to the public, Samura received several messages with coordinates for two previously-unknown jumpholes leading to a sparse solar system. Samura has not revealed who was responsible for releasing this data, but some theorize that the information may have come from less-than-legitimate sources.
+

+
: When Samura first surveyed Planet Tomioka they found it to be similar to Planet Kyushu, an even mix of land and water, with a large variety of primitive sea life. Many of the land masses on the planet are natural paradises which have already become popular locations for the vacation homes of Samura executives and government officials. Most of the areas have been converted into rice and other crop fields. The remaining land was used for the building of resorts in order to generate additional income.
+

+
: At the start of 818 A.S. Samura began harvesting the sea life on Tomioka. Various species were considered delicacies by the vacationers staying at the resorts, so Samura began exporting them as specialty food. Upon further examination, one of the species being exported was found to contain chemicals that could boost adrenaline in the human body. Samura immediately restricted the exportation of these fish and sent samples to Nansei Research Station for testing and development.
+

+
: While both Samura and the Kempeitai keep a tight leash on the transportation of the Marinburusakana, roughly translated as "marine blue fish", smuggling still happens, and the other houses are eager to get their hands on these fish to conduct their own experiments.
+

+
: Due to the haste in which Planet Tomioka was colonized, very little security is in place, and what does exist is ineffective. As a result the black market is widespread on the planet in the distribution and sale of recreational drugs to visiting tourists.

: A gaseous cloud. A line of trade lanes cuts through the cloud leading the way through the lethally dangerous Kyofu -- and the Kyofu is not the only danger. Blood Dragons often lurk in the cloud waiting to attack supply shipments headed to and from Misaki Station or the new developments taking place in the Nagano system beyond Rishiri.
+
: Little more then a large planetoid, Shirane is a lifeless rogue planet captured in the massive combined gravity well of the Nagano stars. Parts of the planet were ripped apart by the conflicting stars' gravity wells, resulting in the formation of a dense asteroid field that remains caught in the planet's weak gravity. Its current orbit is erratic, and it is likely the planet will either be flung into deep space, or be consumed in a collision with one of the stars within the coming century.

: Constructed at Yokohama Shipyards in 798 A.S., the Battleship Matsumoto is one of the Genji class battleships that were built primarily as mobile bases and for securing key locations from pirate forces, rather than for the crushing brutality of frontline warfare against other capital ships, where manoeuvrability is often the key. As a result, the Matsumoto lacks the agility of its brothers but packs in considerably more armour, sensors and firepower. Currently the battleship is under the command of Shosho Tatsuya Mochizuki, and has been stationed near to the Chugoku Gate construction site in order to safeguard the area from Blood Dragon and Golden Chrysanthemum attacks.
+
: The Midori Cloud is the youngest nebula in human knowledge. The Midori Nebula is really nothing more than a small pocket of Ionized Hydrogen pulled into the Nagano system when the Rishiri-Nagano jump gate was activated. Having orbited the system's three suns, the cloud gradually settled around a previously-unknown jumphole to Tohoku. Once caught in the jumpholes gravity, the cloud regained an elliptical shape as it spun around it.
+

+
: With the increasing presence of Kusari Naval Forces' patrols in the system and less need for the Farmers Alliance to act as a sort of civilian militia, Shibukawa Depot was towed into the cloud for cover and secrecy from a now less "understanding" State Police. From here, the Farmers Alliance keeps vigil over the jumphole, and the Blood Dragons that attempt to enter the system through it.

: Most scholars date the start of the group as the publication of Golden Chrysanthemum in Bloom in 642 A.S. The author, Yuyu Matsuda, was a young but critically acclaimed poet. Charismatic and well-spoken, Matsuda had a considerable following among young Kusari women who found their lives lacking in direction but were reluctant to become married and fulfil their traditional role in Kusari society.
+
: Surveyed in 815 A.S. by Farmers Alliance scouts, the Takasaki Dust Field is a rocky blanket over the majority of the Nagano system. Held in place by the massive gravity well of the Planet Kodo, the Takasaki holds claim to two planets. The Planet Kodo, being a gas giant, cannot be inhabited by humans, but a rare species of alien organism does indeed thrive in the upper atmosphere of the planet, unaffected by the intense atmospheric pressure. The Planet Tomioka, though, is habitable to humans, and is a pristine planet of wide green fields and deep blue oceans.

: Yuyu decried what she saw as the corruption of the Kusari male-dominated culture and preached a revolution led by the long-suffering women of Kusari. These ideas were eventually encapsulated in Golden Chrysanthemum in Bloom, in which Matsuda described a fictitious nation called Yomi. A place of fat, lazy male bureaucrats who handed out concessions at the whim of entrenched mega-corporations, Yomi was eventually engulfed in revolution and united under the rule of a benevolent Empress personally selected by the goddess Amaterasu to watch over her people.

: Matsuda looked to the foreigners as a model, where women could be president and run corporations. The Chrysanthemum went on to become a best-seller. Unfortunately, in 648 A.S., Matsuda crossed the dangerous line between ideas and actions when she was implicated in the botched assassination attempt of the planetary governor of Kyushu. Rather than face the ignominy of imprisonment, Matsuda chose ritual suicide instead. An increase in attacks on government personnel and installations followedsoon after.

: Unfortunately, any attempts to locate the Golden Chrysanthemum base or learn more about their organization has been thwarted by their willingness to die rather than talk. A Golden C. pilot will trigger her ship's self-destruction rather than be captured, and suicide attacks are common. Attempts to infiltrate the Golden C. have proven equally fruitless, due to the rituals, security measures and Cardamine addiction required to become a fully fledged member. On several occasions the Kusari government has received the finger of an undercover agent wrapped in a page from one of Matsuda's books.

: The Kusari State Police tries to keep a watchful eye on the faction, but has been unable to curb their activities with any real success. This is somewhat due to the assistance of the Blood Dragons, who have made use of Ainu Depot as a rest stop on the long journey to the inner systems of Kusari. The Blood Dragons also share the group's desire to overthrow the government and reform House Kusari, although this may eventually lead to an ideological conflict between the two groups, as the Blood Dragons may not concede to all the social reforms that the Golden Chrysanthemums will insist upon.
+
: Because of the extreme cost of building in the field, due to both the remote location, Samura Industries abandoned all thought of colonizing the system until 817 A.S. After hearing of the fertility of planet Tomioka, the farmers of Kyushu lobbied for Samura to fund settlement of the field late in 818 A.S. due to an extreme decrease in the selling price of Kyushu rice. With promises of militia security, Samura began the colonization project. The Farmer's Alliance lived up to it's promise, and policed the field on their own, until the project neared its conclusion and the Naval Forces took over defense.

: Originally, the Golden Chrysanthemums were never as well armed as the Blood Dragons nor as influential as the Hogosha, and were more of an irritant to the government than an actual threat. In recent years however, especially in the wake of the war against Bretonia, greater amounts of funding from the increased popularity of Cardamine, and recruits from the dissatisfied younger elements of Kusari society, have flooded into the organisation. The Golden Chrysanthemums have grown to potentially rival the paramilitary power of the Blood Dragons, both in technology and in the quality of pilots, although due to their radical ideas they still lack the considerable political influence that the Blood Dragons secretly wield within elements of the Kusari government.
+
: While the planet is held in an iron grip by Samura, the Farmers Alliance, and is a substantial market for the Hogosha's illicit goods, the Takasaki Field is not peaceful. Uncharted entrances to the system still allow the Golden Chrysanthemums and Blood Dragons the ability to slip into the system and attack the new colony's trade corridors. While the attacks came too late to hamper the planetary construction, it has delayed the completion of the system's single trade lane. Being forced to use their cruise engines, resulting in a much longer flight to the planet and back to the jump gate, the transports coming to Tomioka and Mackinac particularly vulnerable to the continuous raiding by both revolutionary groups.

: As the construction of the Chugoku jump gate neared its conclusion, the supply base that was used to store materials and house the construction and security personnel gradually lost it's purpose. Blood Dragon attacks on the gate however did not relent, and the Kusari government was forced to assign additional security to the region.
+
: Shibukawa Depot is a small Farmers Alliance installation established in 817 A.S. as a base of operations for the group's patrols in Nagano, Rishiri, and Okinawa. Funded by Samura, the depot was a defensive outpost established for the purpose of defending Planet Tomioka and the Takasaki Dust Field. The base served it's purpose well, as the Farmer's Alliance maintained almost complete control over the field until Samura construction began in 819 A.S.

: The Kusari State Police have been given control of the old supply depot, and have converted it into a border outpost from which they can oversee traffic heading through the gate. However, despite the outpost's presence, Blood Dragon activity remains high throughout upper Hokkaido.
+
: Having successfully blocked any Gas Miners Guild, Chrysanthemum, or Blood Dragon expansion into the system, Samura was able to move in with little opposition, followed swiftly by the Kusari Naval Forces who took over maintaining the peace. Now Shibukawa safeguards the Blood Dragon's main entrance to the system; The recently-discovered Tohoku jumphole.

: Built by Samura Industries shortly after the New Tokyo to Hokkaido jump gate was completed, Sapporo Station was originally intended to act as a base of operations from which Samura could survey the surrounding gas clouds and systems for resources. Ever since Kishiro and the GMG signed an agreement to open up Sigma 19 for exclusive exploitation, Samura has found itself all but locked out of the H-Fuel markets, despite the majority of the fuel still being stored at Osaka Storage Facility.
+
: Due to Samura's prejudice against foreign companies in Kusari, Orbital Spa & Cruise was forbidden from building any facilities on Planet Tomioka's surface. However Samura did allow for a luxury liner in orbit, where its passengers could observe the solar system's beauty or take shuttles to one of Samura's planetary resorts.
+

+
: Luxury Liner Mackinac caters mostly to tourists from the other houses who were unable to secure reservations planetside, as Samura holds native Kusarians at a higher priority, making it both more expensive and more difficult for foreigners to gain living quarters on the planet.

: But with the Chugoku Gate construction project pressing ahead, and the resulting drastic increases in piracy and terrorism, Samura has been forced by the Kusari Shogunate to house Deep Space Engineering and Universal Shipping officials, as well as offering a convenient base for the Kusari State Police to operation from in their never ending attempt to curb the rampant terrorism throughout Hokkaido.
+
: The Mackinac has been a frequent target of blackmail and extortion, as well as rampant drug dealing by the Hogosha in Nagano. This extra overhead and the reduced income caused by the Hogosha and Samura has caused many ranking OS&C executives to question its economic viability, but with the Shetland retreating from Edinburgh in the face of Gallia's invasion, Orbital Spa & Cruise has been forced to accept any possible money-making locations for their liners, regardless of the risk and problems that come with them.

: A previously undiscovered bacterial lifeform unique to the Sirius Sector, these microorganisms are remarkably efficient at metabolizing certain elements into oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. When seeded in an immature planetary environment they can accelerate the terraforming process tenfold, or provide a rich, abundant source of food for other organisms in more mature planetary ecosystems.

: Ore is a type of rock that contains minerals such as metals which can be extracted through mining and refined for use. The ores must be processed to extract the metals of interest from the waste rock and from the ore minerals. Many organizations prefer to receive unsmelted ores in order to keep the additional cost of their production and finish within the local economy, as opposed to paying markups to foreign laborers to do the work for them.

: A lighter isotope of Helium gas, He3 is an essential component of the H-Fuel used across Sirius. When mixed in equal proportion with Deuterium, the resulting fuel has the advantage of being 'aneutronic' - that is, it does not produce dangerous neutrons that require heavy shielding. Gas Mining companies like the GMG and Samura can charge a premium by delivering the Helium-3 component directly to customers, letting them add their own Deuterium onsite. Known reserves of Helium-3 are in the Crow Nebula of the Sigmas, and the Shiden Cloud in the Hokkaido system.

The little known Nagano System is a remote area on the borders of Kusari space reached only through the newly developed Okinawa System and a system known only to the Blood Dragons. Because of its remote location and sparse resources there has been no commercial development to date. Farmers Alliance sources claim to have a base there, but this claim has not been independently verified.

Planetary Bodies

Planet Kodo

Planet Kodo
The gas giant Kodo is a wonder of Sirius evolution.

Planet Tomioka

Planet Tomioka
Early in 815 A.S., after the Gas Miners Guild project in Okinawa was released to the public, Samura received several messages with coordinates for two previously-unknown jumpholes leading to a sparse solar system. Samura has not revealed who was responsible for releasing this data, but some theorize that the information may have come from less-than-legitimate sources.
When Samura first surveyed Planet Tomioka they found it to be similar to Planet Kyushu, an even mix of land and water, with a large variety of primitive sea life. Many of the land masses on the planet are natural paradises which have already become popular locations for the vacation homes of Samura executives and government officials. Most of the areas have been converted into rice and other crop fields. The remaining land was used for the building of resorts in order to generate additional income.
At the start of 818 A.S.
While both Samura and the Kempeitai keep a tight leash on the transportation of the Marinburusakana, roughly translated as "marine blue fish", smuggling still happens, and the other houses are eager to get their hands on these fish to conduct their own experiments.
Due to the haste in which Planet Tomioka was colonized, very little security is in place, and what does exist is ineffective. As a result the black market is widespread on the planet in the distribution and sale of recreational drugs to visiting tourists.

Planet Shirane

Planet Shirane
Little more then a large planetoid, Shirane is a lifeless rogue planet captured in the massive combined gravity well of the Nagano stars.

Nebula and Asteroids

Midori Cloud

Midori Cloud
The Midori Cloud is the youngest nebula in human knowledge.
With the increasing presence of Kusari Naval Forces' patrols in the system and less need for the Farmers Alliance to act as a sort of civilian militia, Shibukawa Depot was towed into the cloud for cover and secrecy from a now less "understanding" State Police. From here, the Farmers Alliance keeps vigil over the jumphole, and the Blood Dragons that attempt to enter the system through it.

Takasaki Dust Field

Takasaki Dust Field
Surveyed in 815 A.S. by Farmers Alliance scouts, the Takasaki Dust Field is a rocky blanket over the majority of the Nagano system.
Because of the extreme cost of building in the field, due to both the remote location, Samura Industries abandoned all thought of colonizing the system until 817 A.S.
While the planet is held in an iron grip by Samura, the Farmers Alliance, and is a substantial market for the Hogosha's illicit goods, the Takasaki Field is not peaceful.

Shibukawa Depot

Shibukawa Depot
Shibukawa Depot is a small Farmers Alliance installation established in 817 A.S. as a base of operations for the group's patrols in Nagano, Rishiri, and Okinawa. Funded by Samura, the depot was a defensive outpost established for the purpose of defending Planet Tomioka and the Takasaki Dust Field. The base served it's purpose well, as the Farmer's Alliance maintained almost complete control over the field until Samura construction began in 819 A.S.
Having successfully blocked any Gas Miners Guild, Chrysanthemum, or Blood Dragon expansion into the system, Samura was able to move in with little opposition, followed swiftly by the Kusari Naval Forces who took over maintaining the peace. Now Shibukawa safeguards the Blood Dragon's main entrance to the system; The recently-discovered Tohoku jumphole.

Luxury Liner Mackinac

Luxury Liner Mackinac
Due to Samura's prejudice against foreign companies in Kusari, Orbital Spa & Cruise was forbidden from building any facilities on Planet Tomioka's surface. However Samura did allow for a luxury liner in orbit, where its passengers could observe the solar system's beauty or take shuttles to one of Samura's planetary resorts.
Luxury Liner Mackinac caters mostly to tourists from the other houses who were unable to secure reservations planetside, as Samura holds native Kusarians at a higher priority, making it both more expensive and more difficult for foreigners to gain living quarters on the planet.
The Mackinac has been a frequent target of blackmail and extortion, as well as rampant drug dealing by the Hogosha in Nagano.
