Once the pride of any luxury fleet, the "Democritus" class yachts were retired from OSC rosters with the introduction of "Regent" class luxury yachts in 828 A.S. but due to pristine condition of most these vessels, majority of the active Democritus yachts were refitted with passenger seats and along with bulk of their surplus parts were auctioned off to the major Sirian houses to serve as passenger ferries between high population destinations.

Leading into 829 A.S. these repurposed passenger vessels had already become a common sight in the public transit system of core house space.
