- This is a player owned ship.
History
Commissioned privately by Sam Herwon in late 818 A.S., the Livingstone is a Spatial-class reconnaissance craft outfitted for lone expeditions in the Nomad Worlds, where Nomad capital ships and fighters are more common than a friendly human face. One of its earliest voyages led the Livingstone straight into Omicron Iota, where it was one of the very few ships able to actually gather some data on this system and return from it in one piece - although it was, ironically, shot down shortly after its return by Keepers. The repair of the ship (and hospitalisation of the crew) took some days, after which the Livingstone is now back to (slightly less suicidal) duty.
Configuration
Apart from the standard armament for anti-fighter and anti-gunship warfare, the Livingstone is equipped with several passive broad band scanners (taking up space normally reserved for mines), able to detect a Nomad as soon as it does as much as sneezing (or whatever their equivalent is).
Additionally to its reconnaissance capabilities, the Livingstone also houses a small laboratory to study captured Nomads and salvaged artefacts, with analysing capabilities superior to any other ship of this size (and even most gunboats or cruisers).

The crew complement is limited to three, due to the fact that much space originally reserved for other crew members is now occupied by the isolated laboratory, and to ensure a higher operational time without the need to resupply or send parts of the crew into cryostasis.
The captain and pilot, Sam Herwon, joined the Order 817 A.S. initially to combat the Nomads, which he (as many others joining the Order) felt to be a bigger threat to humanity than the usual brawls between houses. Over time, he became disillusioned and bitter when experiencing that the Order was just as flawed as any other human organisation and torn up in wars with Liberty and the Bounty Hunters too much to fight the Nomads the way Sam imagined. He bought and equipped the Livingstone to be able to fight the Nomads in his own way, without having too much contact with the rest of the Order. He convinced the Order researcher Dr. Fran to join him, offering him to study the Nomads in the wild. While filling the necessary paper work to get the clearance for equipping a non-Order vessel with Nomad technology, he met with the then recent-joined Dallandra Harakamian, an ex-Samura electronic warfare specialist. The Order command agreed to transfer her under Sam's command, and the Livingstone is now flying with this crew.
During the short time the Livingstone has been active, the crew so far managed to keep peace on board, although the atmosphere is usually rather stressed due to various character incompatibilities, especially between Dallandra and Samuel. Expect the Livingstone's crew to suddenly break out into an argument when not on a mission and keep a first aid kit ready for the loser.
