The Rheinland Revolutionary Alliance is a group encompassing the revolutionary factions of Rheinland, especially those have all been declared as illegal or terrorist by the present Rheinland government. At the time of its formation it consisted of the Red Hessian Army, Bundschuh, LWB and Alster Union, along with a number of unaffiliated individuals. Later on the group was expanded by the addition of the SCRA. Since then group activity has steadily diminished, and no further activity has been reported in recent months. Although officially still in place (only the AGS has outright left the group), the RRA presently exists only in name. No attempts to revitalise it have been made to date.

History

Rise

The group had originally been formed by a collection of Red Hessian and Bundschuh leaders in early 817 A.S. in order to better combat the extraordinarily great vigour of the Bounty Hunters Guild in Rheinland at the time. During the time, this group's only function was to allow easier communication and allocation of available forces between the two allied groups. After just a small number of operations, the Red Hessian strategic commanders realised just how useful information on precise movements of their enemies is, and opted to expand the Alliance to include all friendly factions in Rheinland. After a short round of negotiations the Unioners (then led by Albert Profrock) and LWB (under the eye of Johann Steinlaufer) became part of the group, and a joint communications channel between the four major groups was formed.

It was noted then that in the middle of 817 A.S. many of the attacks carried out by unlawful groups in Rheinland began occurring with strong military support from the other revolutionaries, forming groups sometimes consisting of more than three factions, and large enough to overwhelm standard Military patrols with ease.

Zenith

The large success of the Rheinland Revolutionary Alliance in strategic and tactical operations was mostly fuelled by the masses of Red Hessians ready to overwhelm an enemy force, now being focused toward specific encounters with Military forces completely unprepared for organised resistance. This tactic continued to bring positive results for the Alliance for months as the Military struggled to adjust their patrol deployments to counter the extremely mobile - and now also focused - revolutionary forces. At this point the Red Hessian Army leadership effectively led the initiative by providing the bulk of the forces, and decided that they could use the lesson learned in Rheinland to expand their effectiveness in the Omega systems against the Corsairs.

The Red Hessian Army first met with the Mollys regarding possible cooperation in August 817 A.S. The meeting has made the factions agree to support each other against the Corsairs and within Omega systems, wherever supply lines allowed. However, the enormous Corsair push from Omega-49 that the Mollys were heavily affected by shortly after has all but restricted the cooperation of the two groups to mutual trade.

In roughly the same time an attempt to include the Liberty Revolutionary Front into the Alliance was made, however the intermittent nature of the LRF following major attacks in Liberty ensured they would never take a major part in the RRA. Instead, the LRF continued to be supported by the Red Hessians throughout their rises and retreats.

Another rising group in the Omega systems at the time was the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army. Having violently disposed of their alliance with the Corsairs shortly before, the group took notice of Rheinland Revolutionary Alliance led victories in Rheinland and began operating there in order to gain more information. This soon turned to impromptu cooperation between the Red Hessians and the SCRA, and further talks began on the possibility of integrating the rising group into the RRA. The SCRA became officially included within the RRA communication grid in the final months of 817 A.S. and continued operating heavily in Rheinland from that point on.

Fall

The introduction of the SCRA into the Rheinland Revolutionary Alliance was met with enthusiasm from Red Hessian Army leaders, but with slight reserve from the other factions involved. The RRA in early 818 A.S. was heavily leaning on the RHA for its continued functioning, as the Rheinland Military focused its forces by moving them to Hamburg to counter the advance of the now hostile Liberty Navy.

The Alster Union's leadership was split over the issue of their next course of action in the face of the Rheinland-Liberty war, and the faction eventually dissolved, its remnants merging with the then most prominent LWB faction to form the Rheinlands Arbeitergewerkschaft, which allowed strong nationalist tendencies to take lead from its very formation. Meanwhile, the leading Bundschuh faction descended into obscurity, and another - the adamantly pro-democratic Volksfront - took to the front.

Both of these factions disapproved of the SCRA's propaganda and continuing attempts to gain a steering position within the RRA. The Red Hessian Army, now enjoying easy victories in Dresden due to the decreased Military presence, turned its focus towards pushing the Corsairs closer to their homeworld, and the Alliance began to dissolve.

Following a series of incidents between the Volksfront, AGS and SCRA, the AGS declared its leave from the Alliance and abandoned the communications channel. The Volksfront, by then having an internal crisis following the start of the Liberty war, has been steadily pulling resources from the Alliance and was no longer involved in its operations. Shortly after the Red Hessian Army conducted an operational review which declared the Alliance as "no longer maintainable", which prompted the RHA leadership to suspend all operations within the RRA and the assorted infrastructure. By that point the Rheinland Revolutionary Alliance was effectively dissolved, though it was never disbanded officially. All diplomacy between the Rheinland unlawful factions would now happen individually, although certain agreements remained in place such as the technology exchange pact.
