Volker Koch is a known military fanatic and a specialist in matters of guerilla warfare, with predilection for heavy guns. A true Rheinlander how he lives and breathes.

Background

Direktor Volker Koch is soldier and military scientist at the same time. As specialist for combat ship design and battle tactics, he plays an important role in ongoing military projects and Rheinland's plans in the modernisation of its fleet. He participated already in numerous secret operations. His knowledge about internal BDM processes put him in constant danger to get caught and interrogated by various unlawful organizations. Many criminals would pay large sums to get these informations, what makes Volker to a popular target for terrorists.

There are plenty rumors about him. Some tell the existence of a shadow government led by him, others claim his involvement in Rheinland's major projects with intentions to build hybridized war vessels based on Nomad technology. Nobody knows his true intentions. He is rarely seen in public and always guarded by his agents.

Herr Volker Koch, intelligence officer since 812 A.S., part of the BDM Oberkommando, the former Direktor and responsible for the BDM its departments and processes therein. Volker recently returned from his rehabilitation on planet Baden-Baden.

He grew up at a farm of his grandparents on Planet Stuttgart. In 809 A.S. he applied for a job at the Rheinwehr and becomes accepted. Volker's employment at the Rheinwehr was his chance to a well-paid job with advancement opportunities. He also dreamed of being a commander of a military space ship, just as his father. During his time at the Rheinwehr, he discovered his obsession for weapon engineering. In addition to his basic training, he voluntarily participates on technical courses. Three years later, he finishes his training at the military academy with success - With recommendation as tactical officer.

After his training, he obtains a position as tactical officer on a Rheinwehr Cruiser. He was assigned to a team specialized for reconnaissance missions. Through his strong will, assertiveness and ability to lead teams, he rises up in his career very fast.

By establishing new contacts, Volker receives access to the Büro der Marineintelligenz and a vessel known as U-201 in the year 815 A.S. When the war between Rheinland and Liberty broke out, Volker and his ship the U-201, fought against the Libertonians. The U-201 became famous for its firepower and survivability during the war. With hard work and a lot of paperwork, Volker manages to rise up in his career up to the management level and receives a command position within the BDM.

In the early 820's A.S. Volker stepped down from the Direktoramt, due to heavy health issues. In 826 A.S. Volker was released from Baden-Baden. When he returned home, he saw his house devastated. His bodyguards were either dead or disappeared, just like the rest of the Koch family.

So he contacted an old friend to inform him about the current situation and asked this friend to take him to a safer place.

Since the Civil War started, Volker served the Kaiser. His loyalty was seen and the Emperor announced that Volker will be his new Reichskanzler. Additionally Volker was promoted into the nobility of Rheinland and now wears the title Kurfürst zu Baden. He hunts every single member of the opposition and every single person who supports the Nomads. Volker, as a former intelligence Direktor wants to keep his empire clean.
