Faroe System

Faroe is what can only be described as a shining example of the instability of jump holes and the arrogance of man in their use. Faroe was once a Gaian controlled system purposed to support the factions efforts in Edinburgh and fortify their position there. When a jump hole opened to the remote system near the Islay Ice Cloud the Gaians jumped at the opportunity to establish a hideout there and make use of the local resources. The system seemed like a godsend once a new jump hole emerged to the nearby Orkney system. This offered a back door into the Tau systems which Gaian allies the Corsairs were eager to utilise to outflank their Outcast rivals in Tau 23. The Corsairs piled their support into the Gaian cause to maintain control over the passage to the Taus and the eco-terrorist cause flourished.

In the first stages of the Gallic war the Gallic Royal Navy saw to utilise Faroe as soon as it's whereabouts was known to them, for it offered a secretive pathway to the heart of Bretonian space. The local Gaians were almost obliterated when the Gallic horde plowed through their defenses. The Gaian survivors, hoping for better luck a second time relocated to the Lewis system, a newly discovered secluded star system with fewer extractable resources.

It was now that the jump hole to Orkney in Faroe began to destabilise and ultimately led to collapse. The Gallic forces in Faroe were cut off from the main fleet in Orkney. The Gallic fleet had no option but to press on into Edinburgh and wait for the primary fleet to arrive before their assault on Leeds. Not long after the Gallic forces vacated the jump hole to Edinburgh collapsed, sealing off access to the system once and for all.

Upon the Gaians arrival in Lewis, they charted a gravitational anomaly with an interspace trajectory appearing to be aligned with Faroe. However since it's initial discovery, no jump hole has been found to be phase aligned with that system and it remains lost to humanity for the time being.
