Description
Imperium Omicronis (also called: "The Empire of the Omicrons", "Omicron Empire" or "Core Empire"), is an aspiring state founded by The Core in 817 A.S.
History
Omicronis was nought but a small collection of ideas and beliefs when the topic was discussed between veterans in the, now gone, Bounty Hunters Guild Core. The BHG Core proclaimed greatly that it was their duty to lay down the foundations for a Core Empire starting within eastern Sirius, however they had done little to no progress in achieving that nor making the ambition concrete.
With the inception of The Core, Erik Nodtviet and his Guildkeepers finally decided to bring those dreams to fruition. The Core had grown far larger than the mere Private Military Company it was several decades ago. It had blossomed into a powerful military, keen to defend those unable to defend themselves throughout the Edge Worlds. These ideas attracted sympathetic idealists and others willing to fight for what The Core believed in, allowing The Core to grow even more.
An essential requirement of a state, however, is having a suitable colony to house your citizens. Although some of The Core's stations were very suitable for housing civilian personnel (see: Durban Station), what it needed most was a Planet.
When The Core began its invasion of Planet Nauru in 817 A.S, these desires were answered. Over the next several years, they would build upon the settlements and work the previous Corsair, Zoner and Order settlers had done before them. They would flood the Planet with their own civilian personnel, as well as encourage the migration of foreign citizens who shared their cause. By the dawn of 823 A.S, Nauru had amassed over 200,000 civilians. The recent addition of a docking ring has enabled The Core to facilitate their civilian expansion even more.
And through Iridium, The Core boosted its profits in the Edge Worlds immensely. They had asserted the vast majority of control over the Iridium market, becoming a major producer and supplier of armour, hull plating, anti-matter weaponry and Iridium itself throughout all of Sirius. The lucrative profits harvested from their multitude of exports are beneficial to the Imperium Omicronis war machine.
With the establishment of Athenia City, The Core declared the 'Imperium Omicronis' (translation: Empire of Omicronis, from Latin).
With several Omicrons still set on their sights for expansion, as well as the recently established connection to the Sigmas, The Core seeks to grow and expand Imperium Omicronis beyond its current borders. However, the recent interdiction of The Order into Omicron Delta has proven to be an annoyance, but The Core is confident that it will flush The Order out of Dabadoru and continue being the supreme authority within the system.
Controlled and contested space
The Imperium controls Delta and Rho. It claims heir to all of the Omicrons.
Government and politics
Imperium Omicronis is a totalitarian state. The Core sees no limits on its authority, and thus strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible. The media is state-controlled, and the only political party is the one led by the Guildmaster. Power is asserted power through an all-encompassing propaganda campaign, which is distributed throughout all of the Edge Worlds. The Guildmaster employs political repression, personality cultism, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of speech, mass surveillance, and if the needed widespread use of terror i.e public executions.
Arms
Arms are forbidden for non-paramilitary personnel when either planetside or on Core installations. Imperium Omicronis feels that lack of armament is best for citizen safety, and will minimalize civic casualties - as well as prevent dissidence towards authority.
Welfare
Imperium Omicronis strongly believes it has the right to dictate how a citizen should live their lives. Necessities are provided, i.e Healthcare is provided freely with services such as the H+ Clinic (however often visitors will leave with a mechanical augmentation as those procedures are encouraged). But liberties such as food and water must be purchased by the citizen. As well as comfortable and high quality living within regulated settlement sectors on Planet Nauru. Living sectors are defined by income. The Core pays for housing, but The Core will uproot its citizens from their homes if their income drops and they no longer qualify for it. Jobs are state regulated, and citizens are mostly encouraged to pursue either science or military careers in The Core, or perhaps look at more manual labour such as Iridium mining operations across Planet Nauru. Other jobs do exist, but the emphasis is not placed on them as strongly as the aforementioned.
Justice
Public executions in Imperium Omicronis are commonplace. Trials are often conducted in accordance with the Core Oath.
Civil Liberties
The Core does not discriminate based on sexual orientated, gender or race, but rather on ideals. Those who do not share the same beliefs as the state are frowned upon, and will be dealt with via the government if they do not fit in with its policies. Hostile entities are outright regarded as sub-human filth, and citizens are actively encouraged to create discriminating material against them.
Foreign Policy
As stated earlier, Imperium Omicronis encourages its citizens to make defamatory material and propaganda against its enemies. And even to a degree against unaligned entities that have not pledged support to The Core. Imperium Omicronis is imperialist and is actively seeking to expand its territories. Within its own reach, Imperium Omicronis also encourages The Core to intervene with external politics and disputes if it may result in a beneficial outcome for Imperium Omicronis.
Economy
The Imperium Omicronis primarily bases its economy on Iridium. Iridium is an extremely rare metal and is a crucial component in armour as well as anti-matter weaponry. As they control the largest known abundant source of Iridium, Planet Nauru, they have been able to reap immense profits from it. Swathes of Nauru are covered by vast mining operations. The recent appearance of an Iridium field in Omicron Lost, however, may slightly challenge their total control of the market, and thus The Core has initiated a ruthless campaign to expand towards Omicron Lost.
Outside of this, the Imperium Omicronis also generates a profit from the distribution of alien artefacts and technology that The Core obtains during it's foraying to the deeper Omicrons. As Nauru is home to a large number of alien ruins of unknown origin, there is a high demand for items that come from them. Secondly, on Nauru space is also leased to third-party Corporations and Intelligence groups to generate a profit, as well as build diplomatic relations.
The Imperium Omicronis, whilst completely capable of producing its own sustenance, does import goods from the four Houses; most notably Rheinland due to proximity.
Crime and Dissent
The totalitarian, zealous and fearsome regime of the Imperium has ensured a low rate of crime in The Core's colonies. The intense use of zeal has created a united peoples within Omicronis. The rare troublemakers that do crop up are often deal with brutally, and in extreme cases are executed.
