Notable Events

• At aproximately 21:00 Sirius Mean Time on the 18th of August in 818 A.S., Officer George Smith detected multiple Rheinland Battleships accompanied by a Cruiser, a Fafnir, a Mjolnir, and multiple Wraith inbound through both the Bering and Hudson gates. After refusing to leave space, they armed weapons and ordered an attack. Despite calling for assistance on every frequency and channel available to the LPI Officer, no Liberty Navy vessel would respond to the incident (though they did acknowledge the report). About half an hour after arriving Officer Smith, with his vastly inferior weaponry (all Class 8), shielding, lack of armor, and out of Nanobots and Shield Batteries, managed to defeat the Mjolnir. An hour into it, a freelancer who had been working with the Rheinlanders turned and opened fire on the now damaged Fafnir, claiming they had opened fire on him. He was destroyed minutes later. Then, a Liberty Navy Siege Cruiser entered system, but was defeated by the combination of the Rheinland Cruiser and the Fafnir's dual Nova torpedo launchers. Shortly after, Officer Smith managed to destroy another ship, a Wraith, but was himself gunned down as he tried to establish communication with the Liberty Navy once again.
  
• Following the incident in Texas, Officer George Smith was welcomed as a member of the elite Liberty Police Guard, and awarded a new Liberty-class Gunboat.

The Liberty-class Gunboat

Armament

The Gunboat is currently fit with five Basic Gunboat Turrets and two Liberty Gunboat Missile Turrets, as well as the standard forward cannon. However, an upgrade to Cerberus-class turrets is planned.

Equipment

It is also equipped with a brand-new CD98Rc Reinforced Cruise Disruptor, though a downgrade to a CD95XT Train Cruise Disruptor is planned. It is also equipped with a CM-4 Enhanced Countermeasure Dropper, Capital Ship Thruster, and an Advanced Cargo Scanner. The ship is shielded by a standard Gunboat Graviton Shield, and otherwise protected by mid-level armor.

Guardian Armament

This Guardian is fit with six guns, five R8-D "Vengeance" Liberty Laser Cannon Mk IV and a TR9-D "Vengeance" Liberty Laser Turret Mk V. It is an extremely agile fighter for its mass. It suffers from an antiquated power core and thus must use lower grade weapons than it is capable of using. However, it also utilizes a state-of-the-art CD95XT Train Cruise Disruptor, so all is not lost. It has been suggested that Smith retrofit the ship with two CP-m "Debilitator" Civilian Improved Mk I Pulse Cannon, three R8-E "Vengeance" Liberty Laser Cannon Mk V, and a TR9-D "Vengeance" Liberty Laser Turret Mk V, but as the ship will soon be decommissioned this offer has been rejected time and time again.

Guardian Defenses

This Guardian VHF is protected first and foremost by pilot skill. Its biggest defensive trait is that of avoiding incoming fire. Assisting this idea is the ships countermeasure dropped. The ship is equipped with an obsolete (but effective) CM-2 Improved Countermeasure Dropper. This alone improves survivability by an order of magnitude. However, it is also equipped with a modest SD-G2 "Advanced Protector" Heavy Fighter Graviton Shield and even more modest hull plating, with a defense rating of 11000.

Guardian TLAGSNET

Unlike most (if not all) of its other equipment, the communications systems are state-of-the-art. Included in these maintained-daily systems is the Trade Lane and Gate Sensor Network, or TLAGSNET. TLAGSNET can be accessed near any trade lane or gate, and can be used to remotely scan any ship near a trade lane or gate in Liberty. It also saves scans for later use.
