Commissioned in 805 A.S., the Karlsruhe was assigned to protect Rheinland interests in the Stuttgart system. It is often stationed near the Planet Stuttgart Docking Ring, an area frequently raided by LWB fighters. This has led to some rumors that Synth Foods did more then merely appeal to the Rheinland government for better protection of its assets.

The presence of the Karlsruhe has virtually eliminated the LWB attacks around the planet, but has done little to stop the extremists on the surface. LWB activity in other parts of Stuttgart and even in New Berlin has risen sharply, leading most military analysts to assume the LWB have simply shifted their operations.
