Being based in one of the only sources of abundant uranium in Sirius, LD-14 is both a mining station and a refinery. Refining the Uranium with processed plutonium from the Sigma systems to produce MOX, LD-14 is one of the only commercial suppliers of capital ship fuel within Sirius, making the operation valuable to both BMM, and the Mollies, who raid both the station and shipments from the station on a regular basis to feed their own fuel needs. Recently, however, the Battleship York has fallen back to defend LD-14 after the Kusari Naval Forces captured Glasgow Outpost and Stokes Mining Station, and it seems likely that the battleship will remain positioned around the refinery for the foreseeable future.
