In space, few environments are as deadly as those encountered by miners, intractable instabilities in asteroids can lead to sudden explosions of rocks when exposed to pressure resulting in massive chain reactions of flying debris weighing in the hundreds of tons, or pockets of frozen elements that suddenly roar to life in a violent explosion of light and heat.
Of the hellish places men trod to turn the wheels of industry, few are as nightmarish as the sulphured diamond fields of Rheinland. Given the intense environment necessary to create diamonds, the vessels designed to scout those fields and to thwart the attempts of those who comb them looking for prey, provoked the evolution of an exceptionally hardy vessel. With redundant sensor and propulsion systems, the Dacite is designed to remain operational regardless of damage or conditions that would prove catastrophic to many other vessels of the same weight class. With top notch offensive and defensive capabilities, the design of this ship was quickly snatched up by mining companies all across the sector, looking for a vessel designed to operate in any environment that could be conceivably thrown at it.
This ship is equipped with the basic tools required to glean an additional yield from mineral and gemstone deposits, especially when coupled with specially tuned mining equipment.

Review
The Dacite, while admittedly not the best-looking of ships, is often underestimated. With decent agility, four class ten gun slots in addition to the standard two class nines, and a forward-firing turret, this beast of a ship is an excellent combat vessel when loaded up with debilitators or any other shieldbuster of your choice, two GUARDIANs, and two TWILIGHTs. Though it basically has the paper-thin armor of a heavy fighter, it can give far more than it takes. All in all, the Dacite is basically an uglier, bigger Sabre with less armor and the ability to mine, making it nearly the ideal ship for factions like the IMG and other, more evil mining companies, who find themselves unable to use more effective ships like the Sabre, Nyx, or house military ships. I highly recommend everyone at least take it out for a spin in singleplayer, if not get one themselves to lulz around on in Connecticut. It'll surprise you.Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination Review by Kaiwren |
