The Charon, originally a testbed model of the eventual Nyx class Very Heavy Fighter, was put into production for distribution within the civilian market to offset the substantial development costs of crafting a vessel designed to excel in the oppressive dangers of the borderworlds. While the quality of each individual craft lies in the heavy utilization of after market equipment and personal knowhow, the legendary reliability of the underlying superstructure and Hercules drive system is a strong testament to the quality driven ethos of the IMG.

Although it may be classed as a Very Heavy Fighter, the Charon truthfully sits as a Heavy Fighter, however there isn't much light about this monster. With the standard gun set of a Heavy Fighter, and the shield and agility to go with it. However, the Charon happens to have the armor and powercore of some of the lighter Very Heavy Fighters. Similar to the Virage, just smaller, and lacking the class 10 slots. The Charon is probably the most used in the Taus by the Colonials and the IMG, which means its main opponent is the Sabre. Overall, the Sabre has the edge, with the firepower and armor of it severely outclassing the Charon. However, that doesn't mean you should look away from this monster, even though many do. Its overall prowess makes it one of the top Heavy Fighters in Discovery. ( Yes, I know its classed as a Very Heavy Fighter but it just doesn't have the right stats to be one in my opinion ) Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination Review by Total Absolution |

This low-profile agile VHF always gives you another chance. If you make a mistake and receive a hit - Charon will stand it. If you make another mistake, your opponent will probably miss you. It is not so easy to hit fast moving Charon. And yet, it packs a strong enough hit. Charon is for just good pilot, the one that is not perfect and makes just small mistakes - and wants to stay alive. It may be officially classified as a Very Heavy Fighter, but you should not even consider flying it like one. This is a Heavy Fighter with a VHF powercore and heavier armor. The model being from Battlestar Galactica, it is very commonly found in the Taus being flown by the Colonial Remnant. Some others fly the fighter, but primarily for this fact as well. Those who try it are usually turned off rather quickly by the presence of only two lights for /pimpship. All in all this fighter is an interesting toy, but is no more than that: a toy.
