Ecommoy Base was built inside a large asteroid within the Sarthe cloud of ice crystals. The founders of Ecommoy were most probably the Nation Libre and the Junkers, but later the facility was occupied by the Gallic Brigands. The transfer took place circa 550 AGS, and was most probably not a peaceful one.

The station fulfills the usual role of a pirate outpost, securing an important smuggling route going across Maine and into Normandy. It is located not far from the Ile-de-France jump hole, a perfect position to control all vessels going to and from the jump hole. Notably, it also houses a notorious anarchist community whose members consider themselves to be descendants of the so-called Bonnot Gang (La Bande a Bonnot) that operated in ancient France in 1911-1912 A.D. The group is responsible for rare but devastating attacks against civilian convoys going to and from Le Mans and Chateau-Gontier. Long before the truth about the Junker's true role in Gallia and Sirius was revealed, they considered the Junkers to be government collaborators and refused any dealings with them, attacking their ships on numerous occasions. Zero tolerance was shown in dealing with other organizations who had ties with the government. Other Brigands sometimes condemned those actions, but no decisive action was ever taken against the community.
