Atticus Rockford: "I knew back then that I was spared for a purpose."
The concept and origins of the Alliance are very old, dating from the first centuries After Settlement. At the end of the Common Era, the Alliance had placed its final hopes on the Sleeper Ships that transported the ones that would in the future form the Houses we know today. However, that was not the end of the story for the peoples of the Alliance in the Solar system.
A legacy of Sol
-30~40A.S. - Atticus Rockford arrives in Liberty after a long voyage in cryosleep. He warns them of the existence of the hostile Nomad aliens, but receives little acknowledgement by part of the authorities.
- Meanwhile on Pluto, a group of surviving Alliance citizens had been put into stasis chambers, intended to hold out to a small hope that the last forces would have achieved some peace for the remnants of the old power. This group was not aware of the destruction of most of the Solar system when the Nomads attacked, and were left alone in their stasis after Rockford had departed to Sirius.
40~A.S. - Rockford becomes aware of the existence of the survivors, and their falling conditions. With the collaboration of several influential people he commissions a new ship, the ANS-Eternity, in honor of a brave unit that helped the Sleeper Ships in their greatest test. Using Ageira new miniaturized warp engines, he and his team set out on an expedition to rescue the supposed stranded survivors of Pluto but failed to accomplish it. 50s A.S. - After a long voyage, shortened by the use of new technologies in Sirius, Atticus gives up on ever reaching Sol, thus aborting the expedition. Rockford takes the opportunity to search for any data or technological pieces left behind by the post-Alliance Houses and forming a possible foundation to keep his ideals of an united Humanity.
Atticus Alliance Foundation
1st Century ~ 7th Century A.S. - This special group of people, hailing from various nationalities from the old Alliance are kept united by the now old veteran, and instructed by Rockford to keep their ideals of an united Humanity, against the new reality of the colonists, who gradually drifted apart due to the distance and time, forming up the new Houses. The group, initially known as Shades of Sol, shifted over time, maintaining a small but loyal group that attracted and politically promoted the vision and interests of a reunification of the peoples of the Alliance. On the death of their founder and leader, Atticus Rockford, they rebranded themselves as the Atticus Alliance Foundation.
Atticus had collected a treasure trove of historical records and manufacturing secrets from the period of the Alliance. This set of tomes and blueprints would be used as a sort of guide for generations of members and leaders of the AAF, and became known and jealously guarded as the Rockford Legacy.
The AAF strived to maintain some relations with special interest groups in the Houses, to convince them to adopt a more universalist mindset, without any noticeable results. It also tracked any findings related to the Artifacts that began appearing in the Edge Worlds, and the sightings of unusual and probably alien activity.
The Order and the Nomad War
700s A.S. - The AAF minor role changed with the end of the 8th century A.S., as the new discoveries made by Rheinland in a remote planet set up a chain of events that would reveal once again the presence of the Nomads to humanity. Casper Orillion went out to form the Order after changes in the intelligence services of Liberty and members of the AAF became aware of his efforts. AAF political activists and key players in some economic sectors provided support and contacts to help form a fighting force strong enough to counter the alien menace, and stop their plans.
The political group however had a falling of relations with the new organization, after the high profile attack on the RNC-Donau in New York. While Order was sure that the Rheinland envoy was infected, the leadership of the AAF was highly sceptic of the information, and had held Admiral Schultzky as a trusted friend in the Rheinland political circles. Further disagreements with operations, and an increased pressure from the now corrupted LSF forced the AAF to cut relations with the Order and Liberty forces, and take is main administration to a seemingly safer Bretonia.
800~801A.S. - The Nomad War occurs, and the AAF membership suffers heavy losses, from political and nomad induced persecution, and to the radically changing political scene edging ever so closer to inter-house war. The heroic end of the war brought by Edison Trent and the Order have the result of saving the foundation, but at the same time it has weakened it, due to the lack of positive intervention and the past distrust of the heroes of the age.
The later years. The creation of the Sirius Star Federation.
810 ~ 816A.S - Feeling left out of their role of warding the Houses against the alien dangers, the Alliance Foundation turns its attentions back to politics, striving to make true its primordial goal of raising an unified Alliance, an unified Humanity. In the aftermath of the Nomad War, a new but familiar threat begins to manifest itself on the outskirts of the civilized space. The Alliance Foundation becomes aware of the presence and actions of the self proclaimed Sirius Coalition.
The AAF begins to style itself as the a serious political movement in all the houses, broadening their contacts with civilian and military figures, and promoting their vision of unification in defense against the old Coalition threat, as well as to prevent another alien war that could spell the end of the Alliance legacy. The Foundation rebrands itself as the Sirius Star Federation.
816~819A.S. The Sirius Star Federation (SSF) tries to convince the House militaries to from an international military alliance, to ensure peace and combat against the dissident organizations that plagued the civilization. While their success is minimal, they see an opportunity for a stronger foundation in the BHG Core projects in the Edge Worlds.
The SSF puts their support behind the works of the BHG Core, considering their multi house origins and pacifying role in the Omegas and Omicrons as truly representative of their aspirations. They try to introduce a stronger political and democratic system into the Guild, but the Guildmasters hold the control of the project strongly.
The history of the BHG Core is filled with nomad infiltrations and autocratic tyrants in the guild ranks that bring years after years of instability. The leadership of the SSF, recalling their experience from their time with the Order, and feeling that they cannot rely so much on the influence of other larger organizations, begins funding it’s own armed group within the BHG Core, which it brands Alliance Star Fleet.
820A.S. - The row of succeeding Core Guild Masters in 819 and 820 provide greater discontent in the policies applied by the Guild, and the largely self serving goals create a rift between the SSF and the Core main branch. With the arrival of Erik Nodviet and the sweeping changes he performs on the Core, and the ASF distances itself from the Core operations in Omicrons, to strive in the Omegas against the Coalition forces and assist House Enforcers against the Revolutionary Groups.
820-826A.S. - The ways of the Alliance had been long forgotten. Desperate, and unable to mount a resistance on their own, many members of the Star Fleet ceded their authority, transforming their Affiliation into a more aggressive approach, the Order. The Division between each House and the never ending Wars which noone remembers how it started in the first place made many political figures inside the Federation concerned and thus the Core was no longer a valuable option as they'd be just pets under corrupt influence. United under a single banner once again, they finally stood a fighting chance, and their vast commercial fleet was slowly retooled into a shield against the Coalition advance.
Caught between The Wars and the alien threat, we were forced to dig in, we built up mighty defenses to outlast our enemies, and eventually, we even sought peace. Now, after 6 years of constant warfare, our alliances are breaking down, the Order is split between those who would support a Sirius-wide Revolution, and those who would seek out Union.
826-827A.S. - Forces of the Star Fleet have been crumbling apart under the Order and a final decision had to be taken. The Federation granted a build up of PMCs scattered around the Houses still under the umbrella of the Fleet however fully functional on their own as Bounty Hunters, Mercenaries (to be continued).
