Throughout the war against Kusari and later Gallia, Southampton Shipyard was always a vital manufacturing and production center of the Bretonia Armed Forces. That same military significance made it the fulcrum of Gallia's first forays into the New London system, and the reason for the subsequent of the York and her Battlegroup in the Station's vicinity.

A colossal structure, it was the birthplace of the Bretonian fleet. Its yards were organized around an enormous structure know by Southampton's worker and the Bretonian Armed Forces as "The Bridge". It was an objekt of pride fro Bretonia, a symbol of the brilliance, dedication and ingenuity of the people and the main hub for logistic operations through over a decade of continual warfare.

As the beating heart of the Bretonian war effort, it was the inevitable target of the Gallic Royal Navy. With the lessons learned from Glasgow, LD-14 and Stokes, the Armed Forces took steps ensure that the Station, only a stone's throw away from New London, would not fall into the enemy's hands. As the "Blitz" arrived, the commanding Officer of Battleship York issued both the evacuation and demolition order of the Shipyard. Several key structures of Southampton - including The Bridge - were destroyed through controlled nuclear meltdowns of the Station's several Reactors, compromising any effort to repair in a timetable that could be of immediate use to the Gallic Forces
