Battleship De Grasse is one of the few battleships that survived the evacuation of Languedoc. It had been part of the defense of Roussillon since then, but recently it moved into Orkney as an attempt to exploit the weaknesses of the GRN supply lines. As the length of those routes between the Kingdom and the Sirian frontier continue to spread, the Crown's defenses along the way have become more open to attack.
The Council attempted a continuous series strikes, but these proved more costly than the reward due to the distance from their nearest base of operations. It was decided that for more serious raids, a local installation is required. That is exactly the current purpose of De Grasse, nominally hidden behind Eglisay where it serves as a forward outpost, poised to launch strike craft at hostile units travelling between Cordes Outpost and Fort Albi.
