The Barghest is a mythological creature from English folklore: a monstrous black dog with huge teeth and claws that comes at night to bring sorrow and fright. The fearsome name belongs to a ship no less fearsome: designed by the [[Liberty Rogues]], the Barghest Bomber is the most heavily armored bomber built in known space, comparable to small [[Gunships|gunships]] and [[Super Heavy Fighters]] in size. {{Review|[[User:Kikatsu|Kikatsu]]|The Barghest is one of the slower, less manuverable bombersIt is however, one of the best bombers in terms of armor and firepower.  A class six freighter shield enables this [[Liberty Rogues|Rogue]]/[[Mollys|Molly]] ship to take nearly three times the shield damage as a bomber mounting a normal class ten fighter shieldThis is also one of the few bombers with two torpedo slots and a seperate CD slotA CD can be mounted, along with a Supernova, and another heavy weaponThe chances to supplement the Supernova with a Nova, Mini Razor or Inferno are hard to ignore. The choice depends on the pilot's affiliation and mission more than anything else. ''<nowiki>[Editor's Note - as of V4.85.0, Mini Razor and Inferno can no longer be used by this ship. {{Review|[[User:Kikatsu|Kikatsu]]|Since my old review is a bit out of date, here is another one for the modern timesFirst and formost, the Barghest is a beast.  She has an amazing armor rating, even for a bomber, and a power core to match, and she can mount a freighter shield, a rather nice piece of kit that can range from double to triple fighter shield strength, allowing this thing to take a proper beating.  She has 4 guns and two turrets, but the turrets only fire backwards to a degree… energy guns make for good general attack guns, but you may want to try out pulse guns to strip shields faster because this thing can just spam novas like no one’s business.  Nova’s have been improved dramatically since the last mod update, and this thing is a great at using them, hiding just outside a capital ship’s effective range to lob some off before moving in to fire a SNAC after the ship goes after a closer targetYou should always have a SNAC mounted on this thing, and then a torpedo of your choice, either the Nova or the new EMP Incapacitator torpedo, which does not use as much energy and is a bit better at hitting targets because of the lack of engine delay while firing.  Now this is a pirate bomber, but this beast against a transport is simply overkillTwo well piloted Barghests can take out a battleship so long as it has no fighter cover, and it can solo a cruiser if you have your wits about youHowever this thing is the size of a morbidly obese blue whale, and maneuvers like one as well, so a fighter can spell your death once it gets behind you, because you will never shake it.|4.86}}

The infamous Barghest is a fine product from the Rogues. She's meant for one purpose only: torpedoing stuff to death. And she does it alright. Being a Heavy Bomber, the agility is pretty bad comparing to other bombers. The size is okay, and so are the gun placements. Snac is located a bit left or right from the centre, which is good. The freighter shield helps more than one would think. All in all, a solid cap hunting bomber.

{{Review|[[User:Boss|Boss]]|Barghest. Beautiful ship. Not everyone can handle this bird, but in the hands of a master it's deadly. I've taken on swarms of fighters in it--and won. Make no mistake, this thing is made for piracy. The shield can soak up a transport's incoming fire while you wait for the 12,000 power to regenerate to fire the Supernova again. Yes, that's right, it takes about 2.5 seconds before you can fire a second shot. With a 47,000 capacity powercore regenerating at 5000 per second, it's able to keep the goldfish flying. Now, some people will say it's impossible to kill fighters in it, but I have to disagree. I've taken out eight people in a single fight with this thing, starting with three fighters and working up to a dual-missile gunboat. It's a beast.}}

DSCore: Barghest

The Barghest is a mythological creature from English folklore: a monstrous black dog with huge teeth and claws that comes at night to bring sorrow and fright. The fearsome name belongs to a ship no less fearsome: designed by the Liberty Rogues, the Barghest Bomber is the most heavily armored bomber built in known space, comparable to small gunships and Super Heavy Fighters in size. Piloted by a crew of three, this ship is not only capable of destroying enemy capital ships, but also has a large cargo hold capable of carrying much more salvage than any other fighter could take aboard.

This vessel, and the technology powering it, is jealously guarded by both of its parent organizations. Any pilot outside of their ranks found to be in its possession is subject to a short life indeed.
