Basic Informations
The Union of Steelworkers is a small group, which want to revenge their families, their friends and enjoy their newly found freedom out in space. The Union represents all the different kinds of workers in sirius and their families. You can find people from all orgings there, e.g. Ex-workers, relatives of the workers, Ex-Police officers, Traders, etc.
The Steelworker’s Background
The earlierst years
The background of the union started a long time ago, with the beginning of the industry. Hundert of years ago, the workers had to work hard for their money with their own hands. The mood was good and the most of them liked their work. The handicraft had been forwarded from generation to generation. At this time, there were no problems. The workers could fed their families and had a happy life. But then came the industrial revolution and the good times ended.
The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution were the importenst issue at this time. The men were replaced by machines and so many, many workers became unemployed. The workers were happy about the relief at the work, but the fact that many men became unemployed casted a big shadow over the new and “good” machines. The education played a bigger issue. Money became the most importent thing in many lifes. One family were rich and the next hadn’t anything to eat. The pride of the families and the handicarft wasn’t importent anymore. The friendship and the honest work of the men were futile.
The Steelworker’s background
The Industrial Revolution brought many anger with it. After the generally overview, we will focus on the Steelworker’s backgorund after the Industrial Revolution. The Steelworker’s history played in the smelters in sirius(e.g. Culebra Smelter). The task of the men were to porduce and to process the steel. In the smelter ruled a clear hierarchy: the boss, his consultants, the overseers and at the end the simple workers. Many men were happy because they found a job in the smelter but all the hope turned to dust. The salary were very bad and so the job were not enough to fed a whole family. Many men fell in depressions and the hate and anger against the bosses and overseers grew day by day. The machines treated like men and the men treated like slaves although the bosses advertised the work in the smelter as a good payed job and not like a place in a slavery. In the smelters ruled a aggressive and despaired mood.
No one had the courage to spoke one’s piece or to bridle. So, no end in sight!
Freedom, Independece and Cohesion
After many years in depression, hate, anger and poverty, arose the ideas of freedom and independence. The workers talked about that many times, they dreamt about that every night and so they decided to make a big change.
In 819 AS, something revolutionary happend in the Culebra Smelter, Puerto Rico: the boss and his consultants and overseers had a meeting and so the workers were nearly alone in the smelter. A small group of men took the chance and ran away from the smelter without any money, clothes and weapons. But they had each other, the friendship was the importenst thing for the group. Together they bolted to the Freeport 4, Magellan, and there they realized the first time that they were free now.
The Beginnings of The Union of the Steelworkers
Everything started at the Freeport 4 in Magellan. The group enjoyed their first time in freedom and independece, but they couldn’t forget their friends who were still in the smelter. The men needed money.
So, they built some ships with scrap metal or stole them and then they began to earn money in form of trading and smuggeling. But in that way, they couldn’t help their friends in the smelter. So, Graig DeWells had the idea to found something like a “Union” for the workers out in space. A word and a blow! The Union of the Steelworkers was born. The group wanted to revenge their friends in the smelter and the other workers everywhere. They have begun to exploit those who exploited them. These men wanted a revenge and a better life. They started to make big parties with much of wine out in sirius with many guests. After a short time, many people knew them.
The Union Today
The Union of the Steelworkers grew day by day. All the people who are interested in helping the workers in sirius came to the Union. It doesn’t matter who they are, how much money they have and who their parents are. The only interest of the Steelworkers is to help other workers.
The Principles of the Unionists are: For Freedom!
For’ Independence!
For’ Cohesion and friendship!
For the future!
For the Steelworkers!
