One of the newest Battleships of the Richelieu class, Guillestre has played an important role in the numerous battles for Dauphine that the Gallic Royal Navy decisively won in 808-812 A.S., practically taking the system away from the Council's control. Guillestre has since assumed the role of rear guard, first protecting Dauphine, then Languedoc and now Tau-23. Her role is to defend the critical supply line to Bretonia and ensure that hostile forces do not penetrate into Gallia through the newly established Jump Gate.
Configured as a strike craft carrier, Guillestre has less direct firepower then the Normandy class ships, but the numerous fighter wings she deploys are more suitable to cover friendly ships moving through the dense asteroid fields of Tau-23. With increasing evidence that the Independent Miners Guild is providing aid to the enemies of Gallia, the Guillestre has been redeployed several kilometers from Java Station to more effectively keep watch against such treason.
