The Bundschuh are a populist political faction that has been declared "enemy of the state" by the Rheinland Reichstag. Attempts to gain amnesty from Chancellor Steller after the Nomad War have failed, and while many are still faithful to their political goals and ideas, others have turned away from the Bundschuh to piracy and terrorism as a desperate attempt to cause damage to the government. The Rheinländische Volksfreiheitspartei is an offshoot of this movement, focusing more on propaganda and subtle political manipulation, and the maintaining of a sizable space-borne presence.
Synopsis
A populist left-wing Rheinland political party, they are currently outlawed and seek to overthrow the corrupt regime of the “Gottkanzler.” Large amounts of the Rheinland population are sympathetic to the well-educated organization, and donations mean that the Bundschuh focus on political targets, rather than distasteful piracy. Recruiting members from mainstream society, as well as numerous pirate “organizations” the Bundschuh are a corps of ideologically motivated activists.
Mode of Operations
The Freiheitspartei operates within the following areas: File:Flagmanzoi)).PNG
Inside Rheinland
The Freiheitspartei treats their countrymen, the Rheinsvolk, with respect and sympathy inside Rheinland. To the Partei, the cogs of the corporate machine are forced into their positions. Not everyone is cut out to be a revolutionary, and the Partei recognizes this. They will ask for donations, since most pilots are paid salaries and not on commissions, but will rarely attack if they are not given anything. They stop Polizei pilots and try to educate them on the evil system that they are part of, but have no qualms engaging them if they show themselves a major threat to the Revolution. Military pilots are usually avoided, when civilians are around. Otherwise, they receive bursts of Partei slogans, usually followed by gunfire.
Outside Rheinland
The Partei takes upon itself the task of preventing what they see as "fascist imperialist expansion into free, independent worlds", and will demand money or information from corporations that they find there. They treat the Independent Miners' Guild as ideological brothers-in-arms, and will work with groups like Hessians and the Rot Front to drive Rheinland forces out of the Omegas and beyond. Corsairs are shown no mercy, wherever they may be encountered - they are seen as an undeniable threat to civilized people, and Rheinland's worst enemy. They and their sympathizers are killed whenever possible.
