One of the newest battleships of the Richelieu class, Guillestre has played an important role in the numerous battles for Dauphine that the Gallic Royal Navy decisively won in 808-812 A.S., practically taking the system away from the Council's control. Configured as a strike craft carrier, Guillestre has less direct firepower then the Normandie class ships, but the numerous fighter wings she deploys are more suitable to cover friendly ships and harrass enemy fleet formations.
Previously assuming the role of the role of a rear guard vessel in Tau-23 to defend against the critical supply line to Bretonia and keep the unruly Independent Miners Guild in check at Java Station, the Guillestre has since been retasked with protecting the Leeds flank of the Bretonia front. While this has left the Tau-23 logistical artery vulnerable to attack, Gallic naval command feared a Liberty Navy breakthrough in the Independent Worlds was a more pressing concern given the shortening timetable for the final battle above Bretonia's capital world.
