A serene, beautiful planet covered in lush, green plains and deep blue oceans, planet Cambridge is eminently suited to human colonisation. Settled during the colony's formative years, the planet is largely given over to farming and scientific concerns, with heavy industry of any kind strictly prohibited. It is also home to the Cambridge Research Institute, a science academy that is devoted to pure scientific research. Many important scientific breakthroughs have occurred on Cambridge through the Institute, without which the Bretonian food shortages would also be considerably more severe. Thanks to advances in crop engineering, Cambridge is also now the primary food producer for the entire of Bretonia.

Despite its relatively small population, currently standing at a little over 120 million, Cambridge has always tended to attract a large number of potential immigrants, many of whom are turned away due to population and security restrictions on the planet itself. Such restrictions have since become more severe since the planet was bombed by a MOX warhead during an attack by a terrorist organisation known only as the Phantoms. Over 4 million people died, and large tracts of the western continent still remain uninhabitable until hazmat crews have finished cleaning up the area. One of the terrorists, going only by the presumed codename Ember, was initially reported to be captured but subsequently disappeared, and the Bretonian government has sizeable bounties on all Phantom terrorists to this day.

Due to its prominence in Bretonia as both the primary food producer and as a bastion of scientific knowledge, it is perhaps inevitable that Cambridge harbours a large portion of the Green Front party members and offices, with a majority coming from the professors and students, as well as a number of vociferous researchers and local aristocracy. This has lead to many arguments between the various academic departments over the morality and viability of human terraforming, and its long term effects on the landscape of Sirius.
