Colorado is ruled by the Liberty government and was the first system to have a Jump Gate connecting it to the New York system. It is the location of Pueblo Station, Ageira's main facility.

Planet Denver Planet Denver Originally home to miners, smelters and shipyard workers, Denver has always had a sizeable population, but during the economic collapse of the silver industry in 600 A.S., many of the workers were put out of jobs and either left the system or ended up joining the nascent Xeno movement. The planetary population plummeted, with the remaining people left to scratch a living on Denver's farmsteads, and also in the small, but profitable, tourist industry. With the California water shortages continuing unabated, the wealthy elite of Los Angeles began to search for an alternative holiday destination and place to call home, and they found it in the guise of Denver's rough savannahs and beautiful, pristine beaches. The resulting emigration injected new life into the planet's economy, reviving its flagging fortunes, even as the newly arrived upper class were in the process of systematically taking control of the local government authorities. Nowadays the planetary population of Denver stands at a healthy 945 million people, making it the second most populated planet in Liberty after Manhattan itself. Such is the attraction of Denver that Cryer Pharmaceuticals maintains one of the largest medical research facilities in Sirius, just outside the capital city of Crichton Springs, while the headquarters of the Ageira Technologies corporation is also located on the planet. It is widely known that the Liberty Police are paid extremely handsomely by the wealthy residents to ensure the continued peace and security of Denver. Owner Faction: Liberty Police, Inc. Silverton Asteroid Field Silverton Asteroid Field Once the major source of Silver for all of Liberty, the Silverton Field has been mined to rubble and dust. Within the field is the former site of an Ageira Technologies manufacturing facility, abandoned over a century ago in favor of Pueblo Station, it now houses a large contingent of Xenos. Trace amounts of Silver remain. Location: D/6

Copperton Asteroid Field Copperton Asteroid Field Like most of the resources in Colorado, the famed Copperton Field has long since been exhausted. Trace amounts of copper remain. Xenos are active within the field. Location: B/5

Alamosa Asteroid Field Alamosa Asteroid Field A large rock asteroid field. Initial surveys indicated no ore or other resources worth mining. Alamosa is a favorite refuge of Rogues and Lane Hackers attempting to escape capture by the Liberty Navy. Location: D/3

Battleship Rio Grande Battleship Rio Grande Constructed in 777 A.S., the Battleship Rio Grande has been at the forefront of many assaults against the Xenos and Liberty Rogues. It first became famous in the 792 A.S. campaign against the Xenos in the Hudson system, later followed by the 808 A.S. campaign against the Liberty Rogues, again in the Hudson system. Currently commanded by Commodore John Palmer, the Rio Grande's primary mission is to safeguard the vitally important Ageira Technologies manufacturing facility at Pueblo Station, and is also occasionally assigned to patrol the Kepler and Galileo systems. Ouray Base Ouray Base The Xenos were originally comprised of heavy manufacturing and mining workers within Colorado and Texas. Quite a number of their ancestors also worked at the Ames Research Station, which was a good employer for generations. But Liberty increasingly made money from its information technology licensing and Trade Lane associated monopolies rather than hard, manufactured goods. Over time most of the blue-collar workers became unemployed and were pushed to the economic fringe of Liberty society, with this trend culminating in the collapse of almost all Colorado based mining industries in 600 A.S., precipitated in no small part by the failure of the terraforming projects in the California system, and the exhaustion of silver reserves in the Silverton field. As the Liberty rich moved to Colorado to escape the paradise lost in California, the Xenos were displaced to a small base in the mined out Silverton asteroid field, located inside a hollowed out asteroid known as Ouray. The base took several years to make habitable, with the various construction projects finally completed in 628 A.S. Once settled in to their new home, the Xenos began launching sporadic raids focused against foreign shippers, in the hopes of driving them out of Liberty. Whenever they were captured they were sent to Huntsville prison in Texas, where cross-fertilization with other inmates only helped to swell their ranks. Xenos also hate the foreigner Outcasts that feed the habits of Liberty's morally corrupt rich. For this reason, most of those declared NCR for drug crimes are placed aboard the Sugarland to keep the two groups separate. Because of the Xeno preference for other Houses' ships, Universal Shipping has actually benefited from the attacks and has lobbied the government to take it easy on them. It is rumoured that some of their attacks on foreign shipping were not Xenos, but actually mercenaries hired by Universal to harass the competition. As a result, certain clandestine deals (that Universal strenuously deny) have been struck, and as such the Xenos have entered into an "agreement" with the Liberty corporation. The agreement was that the Xenos are to ignore Universal Shipping in return for supplies, information and political pressure on the Liberty government in their favour. The Xenos are currently one of the poorest of all the criminal factions, so they have little resources to buy better ships and weapons. To gain a more stable income stream, they hope to evict the Junkers from Texas, and ultimately New York, and thus control a crucial market for black market goods, mostly artifacts, "cracked" software, and illegal gold and diamonds. The implications of the drop in cardamine sales are obvious. The Xenos' love of side arms regularly brings them into conflict with Ageira, especially around the Detroit Munitions plant. They also regularly attack the Junkers in the Jersey Debris Field of northern New York, in the hopes of displacing the scrap merchants as the premier smuggling outfit within Liberty.
