The Edinburgh system, also known for being one of the few remaining systems not affected by the Bretonian industries, is a small piece of paradise within Bretonia. The system is relatively young, with several terrestrial planets and two medium sized red-colored nebulas situated on the northern and southern part of the system, an interesting factor of this system is that Edinburgh is the only binary system within Bretonia, due to the system's two twin white dwarfs.

The only planet that was ever considered for settlement on behalf of Bretonia, was Planet Gaia, but some personnel onboard Cambridge Research Station were contrary to see another system being polluted by the Bretonian industry complex. A small group of these scientists will be later known for founding the Gaians, an unlawful movement with only one simple goal, defending Planet Gaia, with deadly force.

Luxury Liner Shetland, a liner of OSC is currently moored in orbit around Planet Gaia, offering an incredible view upon the planet itself.

Several efforts made by the Bretonian complex of Planetform, operating out from Perth Station, are undergoing the terraformation process of Planet Ayr. But the presence of the gaians have becoming a serious threat to this project, especially the actions from a splinter cell of the gaians, Nature's Last Hope.

In order to counter the presence of the gaians within the system, the Bretonian parliament decided to contruct a Bretonia Police Authority station next to the jump gate leading to Edinburgh. Police forces are operating out from it, often making patrols within the southern nebula, in which Gaian controlled Islay Base is located.

Planet Gaia Planet Gaia >>>RESTRICTED<<< Gaia is a tropical paradise -- a rich, green world of plants and animals -- the likes of which have not been found anywhere else in the Sirius Sector. Until its potential treasure trove of genetic material can be better understood, however, Gaia has been placed under the control of the Cambridge Research Institute, although with the Gallic Navy having invaded the system, that control is in name only. The Gallic Navy has thus far shown little interest in the surface of Gaia, although it has placed a few satelites in orbit to chart the planet in detail. Planet Ayr Planet Ayr Ayr is an arid world with a thin atmosphere but an active volcanic system beneath its crust. Initial surveys showed that a considerable amount of water vapor, CO2, and other greenhouse gases remain locked in the polar ice caps, making Ayr a prime target for terraforming. Planetform, Inc. initiated first stage terraforming in 752 A.S. but the operation has come to an abrupt halt as Gallic Navy forces invaded the system. It is also home to a large contingent of Gaian eco-terrorists who frequently attack unprotected Orbital and Planetform transports. Location: F/3

Positioned near the Leeds jump gate, the ship is expected to lead the invasion into this system. Islay Base Islay Base Soon after tourists began to arrive in Edinburgh in 690 AS, Cambridge scientists voiced their concern over the enormous ecological damage that even the most regulated visits could inflict on the planet. Almost from birth Cambridgers had drilled into them the stories of how New London and Leeds were blighted, so they tended to be very environmentally sensitive. A few of the younger and more militant scientists studying Planet Gaia actually went so far as to begin a campaign to sabotage tourist transports in an effort to discourage visits, but with little effect. Once Cobalt was discovered on Gaia in 740, BMM began to make noises in New London about the need to establish a mining base there. What had been a quiet, bloodless campaign of active resistance blossomed into full-fledged conflict. Graffiti with slogans such as "GAIA WILL NOT BLEED" was spotted soon after. The eco-terrorist movement had begun. Eventually any plans to mine the surface of Gaia were dropped -- mostly out of fear that it might cut into the burgeoning tourist industry -- but the Gaians had already broadened their horizons by an influx of radical elements from Cambridge who sought a ban on terraforming technologies. Planetform, Inc. was the natural target. What emerged was a militant terrorist group philosophically opposed to the exploitation of planets, and terraforming in particular. The group enjoyed considerable popular support on Cambridge, funded by the efforts of the legitimate arm of the Gaians called the Green Front. While the Gaians and the eco-terrorist movement as a whole have made little progress outside of Bretonian space, Green Front propaganda is a common sight in Bretonia. Green Front commentators are often present on the news, and unlike the Mollys, a certain amount of tolerance for them exists in the government from those disinclined to antagonize their Cambridge connections. Over the years, the movement has broadened considerably until the majority of its sympathizers are environmentally conscious individuals from throughout Bretonia. The sole Gaian base in Edinburgh lies deep within the Islay Ice Cloud at the northeastern edge of the system. With the invasion of the Gallic Navy and the subsequent withdrawal of Planetform and the Bretonian Armed Forces from the system, activity at the Gaian base has decreased significantly. Perth Station Perth Station Perth Station was used by Planetform Inc. as a base to run the terraforming of the planet Ayr. The station was abandoned when the Gallic Navy invaded Edinburgh, as the Bretonian Navy withdrew. Now occupied by the Gallic Navy, the station has been pushed into the role of frontline supply depot.
