LANTHANUM

Lanthanum is a silvery-white soft metal that is both malleable and ductile. In compounds of other elements it has various uses in electronics. When added in small amounts to steel, the alloy is more malleable, and has improved resistance to impact and ductility. When alloyed with Molybdenum, it reduces its hardness and sensitivity to temperature variations. In compound with other rare elements it can function as a Hydrocarbon Cracking Catalyst.
