Mission
The Liberty Reconnaissance Office :LRO: develops and operates unique and innovative reconnaissance systems and conducts intelligence-related activities essential for Liberty Security.
It also coordinates collection and analysis of information from reconnaissance by the military services and Liberty Police Incorporated. It is funded through the Liberty Reconnaissance Program, which is part of the Liberty Foreign Intelligence Program. The agency is part of the Libertonian Military.
The LRO works closely with its intelligence partners , which include the Liberty Security Force =LSF=, The Liberty Customs and Border Organization (LCBO) and the Office of Naval Intelligence along with other agencies and organizations.
Organization
The Liberty Reconnaissance Office is a part of the Libertonian Military. The Director of the LRO is appointed by the Secretary of Defense with the consent of the Director of Military Intelligence, without confirmation from the Libertonian Congress. The position is considered independent from the LSF and Navy Intelligence.
The LRO has the following directorates:
SIGINT
Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) is responsible for the monitoring of communications traffic with Liberty space and relaying real time intelligence to all Liberty Navy, Liberty Police Incorporated and Liberty Security Forces assets with ability to act on it.
IMINT
Imagery Intelligence is charged with the collection of and processing of information via imaging technologies. IMINT incorporates Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT) into it's directorate.
PROWLER Corps
The Prowler Corps is comprised of the active LRO operators piloting manned craft in Liberty Space. In contrast to the SIGINT and IMINT directorates, which rely almost entirely on deployed electronic systems such as satellites and listening nodes for data collection , the Prowlers actively operate intelligence platforms in space operations. It is rumored that the PROWLERs also participate in LN, LSF, and LPI clandestine operations though no evidence exists to support this claim.
PROWLER IFF AND ID
Prowlers can squawk Liberty Navy, Liberty Police, Liberty Security Force or no IFF. Liberty Security Force or Liberty Navy ID is a requirement.
Rank Structure
Admiral: (Abbreviation ADM) - The rank of Admiral represents the top of the Liberty rank structure. It is unusual for the LRO to have an active serving Admiral as the rank signifies command over multiple Capital Assets or a battle group which the LRO generally does not employ. Admirals have served as directors of the LRO as a whole however.
Captain: (Abbreviation CPT) - The rank of Captain is generally held by those in command of a capital chip or gunboat. It is common to refer to the commanding officer of any capital chip as "captain" even if that is not the rank the officer holds.
Commander: (Abbreviation CMDR) - Commanders generally serve as the Commander of the Air Group (CAG) in a sector or system, or in an executive capacity on a capital ship. Commanders are also stationed as the commanding officer of gunboats. Commander is usually the last rank held by and LRO bomber or fighter pilot.
Lieutenant Commander: (Abbreviation LCDR) - Lieutenant Commanders also serve as CAGs or deputy CAG for a sector or system in space.
Lieutenant: (Abbreviation LT) - Lieutenants are the core of the LRO pilots. Most PROWLER fighter and bomber pilots are Lieutenants.
Sub-Lieutenant: (Abbreviation SLT) - Sub-Lieutenants are the raw recruits of the LRO. Generally an enlisted service joining the LRO is promoted to Sub-Lieutenant to place him in the officer ranks.
