The Whitefield was the rear guard battlegroup in the "Battle for Munster", in which Liberty attempted to seize part of the Munster Research Station in Bremen. While the Concord would assault the base, the Whitefield was to halt any Rheinland forces which assumed would be in pursuit. While a sound plan in theory, Liberty did not account for the sheer amount of forces Rheinland had deployed to Liberty, as it was planning an attack of it's own.
Battlegroup Concord was almost wiped out, but surviving elements did complete their mission and withdrew to Liberty, with the base component in tow. However, Rheinland forces had already positioned for a counterattack. A wing of cloaked bombers destroyed the tugs that were pulling the station component towards Minnesota. After this, a three pronged attack by the Westphalia in the center, and heavy cruiser groups at the flanks, Rheinland assaulted the Liberty fleet. Concord was forced to flee, and Whitefield moved in to engage the Rheinlanders. A bloody battle ensued.
Both parties were unable to gain the upper hand. Unwilling to risk their flagships, both Whitefield and Westphalia retreated, while their respective fleets kept trying to gain the upper hand of the area around the station component. Rheinland has not attempted to destroy it outright - leaving Liberty to suspect that whatever is inside is too valuable to destroy. All attempts at boarding the still powered station component have failed.
