In many ways similar to Montpellier Guard Station in Languedoc, Luneville was built to maintain and secure the mines that surround Jump Hole leading into the dangerous Outcast space. By the time the Outcast themselves arrived, the mine field was already in place. Having no means to penetrate it, the Outcast simply avoided the area, establishing a small Base themselves to keep watch over it.
The minefield was breached eventually, in 816 A.S., in a surprise attack by Council forces out of Lorraine.
