As the Maxim Chaingun’s ability to deal sustained damage was realized, it was only a matter of time before a large caliber model was developed. The Browning is the result of such development, carried out by an anonymous benefactor somewhere in probably not too bright parts of Sirius.
The Browning is based on the very same principle that its lesser brother. Its multiple barrels fire a steady stream of heavy tungsten rounds designed specifically to shred ship or station hull panels, at the cost of rather lackluster performance against energy-based shields. Unlike the Maxim, however, the Browning chaingun was met with little critic or opposition, as its predecessor has already established rapid-fire kinetic weapons as a respected and popular weapon type. As such, this next step in chainguns’ evolution quickly found its way to almost any arsenal in Sirius, its doubtful origins hardly any dissuasion even for lawful forces, who quickly adopted “their own” variants for combat use.
