Battleship Bayern, along with a large escort fleet, was previously stationed in the Thuringia system safeguarding a classified research base under Rheinland Military control. In late 818 A.S., the Liberty Navy attacked the facility heavily damaging the main structure and stealing a large section of the base. Bayern and her fleet were immediately ordered to retrieve the stolen component intact. Though having pursued their enemy into the new Hampshire system, their efforts were eventually stalled by a rapid reinforcement of Liberty forces, prompting the Bayern to retreat.

Held in reserve ever since its previous action in Konigsberg, the Bayern and its support ships were mobilized once more, this time into Sigma-15, where it was been deployed to discourage hostile activity.

In early 825 AS the Battleship Bayern was deployed into Sigma-21 as the core of the expeditionary forces being relayed into the region. Alongside a full support fleet, the Bayern's task was to secure the Jump Hole to Sigma-15 in order to enable future operations, but was forced to act when the Ibusuki Facility was constructed in orbit of Planet Saigon. Despite being a joint Kishiro and Gas Miners Guild facility, the Bayern was given orders to fire on the installation, resulting in its destruction in mid 825 AS. Angered by the attack on Kusari civilians, the Kusari Naval Forces responded accodingly, putting the Battleship Bayern and its support fleet into a defensive position where they held their ground through the end of the year.

In 826 AS, Rhienland massively reinforced the Bayern battlegroup with those of the Westfalen, Kolleda, and Strausberg. In a blitz attack, the Bayern cohort moved onto the Hyono's position and pushed them back into Honshu, moving on to demolish the Sigma-21 Gate Construction Site before jumping to Honshu. The Bayern now sits in Honshu, preparing the next move from a reinvigorated Rheinland Military.

This, along with a long history of cooperation with the MND, may be why Bayern was among the first ships to join the Federalists when the Rheinland Civil War broke out. In the initial period following the coup, under the guise of a supply run and maintenance stop, her crew swiftly boarded and seized Fort Sommerda for the Federalists. The Bayern then prepared to launch further operations in support of the Federalists. Their next action was to work to expel Imperialist elements from Heldrungen, resulting in the destruction of the station. With Thuringia secure, Bayern sent reinforcements to Federalist elements of the Koblenz fleet to secure the Schatten facility in Frankfurt and protect against retaliation from the system. The Bayern now has positioned itself in the direction of Hamburg, a system heavily in Imperial control.
