An esteemed scientist from the Cambridge Research Institute, Quintaine was considered to be the greatest xenoarchaeologist alive. As such, he became a target for the Nomads and their infected humans during the Nomad War. Hiding out in an abandoned station in the Dublin system, he was retrieved by Edison Trent. Subsequently he aided The Order in their interpretation of the Proteus Tome, and along with Kendra Sinclair, formulated the weapon that Trent would use to cause the Nomads' withdrawal. After the war, he is believed to have gone to work with The Order.
