Synopsis
The Gallic Brigands, uncommonly referred to as The Free Brigands of Gallia, are a decentralised criminal network mostly composed of experienced career criminals. The earliest reference of the Free Brigands of Gallia Movement dates back to 290 A.G.S. where 'loosely affiliated' criminal elements were reported. The modern day Gallic Brigands by most are considered nothing more than pirates using oppression as an excuse.
The Brigands have survived for all these years for one simple reason; their resourcefulness. The Brigands have been known to rely on civilian technology just as much as their own and it's helped them come along way from being pretty pirates. Alongside their allies, the Unione Corse, The Gallic Brigands control almost all of the black market of Gallia. This, alongside the Nox trade, funds the Brigands. Despite this, the Brigands will still rob anyone who gets too close to them, this is the leading factor that distances the Free Brigands of Gallia from The Council.
Rank Structure
The Brigands are structured in the shape of different communities rather than acting as a faction as a whole. Each base under the control of the Brigands had an appointed Warlord. This Warlord, also known as an Elder, governs the base as he/she sees fit. This allows for a great amount of diversity among the Brigands which each base functioning differently, some quite drastically. This often carries over to how their acts of piracy and criminal mischief are conducted with some taking far different approaches.
This internal difference in culture is both a blessing and a curse towards the Brigands. The beauty of it is that it allows the Brigands to have large amounts of cultural diversity and freedom of movement among its members. Each Brigand is able to decide which base they wish to operate under, given they request it from the Elder first. The curse of the Brigands, however, comes into play when its comes to any sort of unification. As everyone has their own way of acting and functioning, miscommunication can occur. This is made worse when people from different sects encounter each other or have to work together as they can have a totally different way of handling the situation.
Due to this decentralised way of working each Elder is able to call upon a Council Summit. When a summit is called each Elder is given the option of whether to attend or to not, it's entirely optional. Due to this baseline principle, it's rare to have all the Elders show up to a single Council Summit and has happened only a handful of times in Brigand history. When a summit is called, it will generally consist of between one and three different sessions.
Goals & Objectives
Short Term:
- Establish contact with other organisations within Sirius - There are groups around Sirius that are a huge untapped market for the Brigands. Allies and trade partners allow for a greater profit.
- Contact and enter diplomatic talks with the Outcasts - The Outcasts are close neighbours and are openly hostile to the Gallic Crown. This combined with the fact they control a very lucrative substance is enough to peak the interest of the Brigands.
Mid-to-Long Term:
- Discover new potential markets for the Nox trade and Black Market smuggling.
- Attempt to gather intel on the Royal Forces to see if there are any convoys or important targets that are worth something.
Long Term:
- Unify all Brigands under one banner, change the Brigands from just being an idea to its own recognisable military force.
- Carve a path with the Council to reunite with the Roussillon Force.
